Multi-platinum, chart-topping, award-winning artist Lil Nas X has returned with his first single in a year and a half, the triumphant and deeply personal “World’s Greatest,” out today via Columbia Records.
Montero first announced the song with a personal message from his late mother, Tamikia Hill, to whom he dedicates the song and accompanying video. In a touching voicemail, she encourages her son to “walk by faith, not by sight,” to “never give up,” and reminds him that everything will work itself out. Alongside the message, Montero shared, “‘Walk by faith, not by sight’ was my mom’s favorite phrase to say. As I move through life it resonates more & more.”
The song finds Montero reflecting on his journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the most recognizable artists in the world. Written entirely by Lil Nas X and produced by C.WRAY and Steve Rusch, “World’s Greatest” is both a celebration of how far he has come and a reminder to keep moving forward when the path gets difficult.
