Director Maria Diane Ventura is recognized for bringing the story of the iconic Filipino band to an international audience
NEW YORK / MANILA — Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, the acclaimed music documentary chronicling the legacy of the Eraserheads, has earned another international distinction, with director Maria Diane Ventura receiving the Best International Director Award at the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) Music Documentary Film Festival in New York.
The recognition came as the film was screened at the annual LIMEHOF Music Documentary Film Festival on September 27, 2026, followed by a special post-screening conversation featuring Ventura and Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia.
According to Ventura, the recognition is particularly important because Combo On The Run documents an important chapter in Philippine pop culture history: one that deserves to be shared with a wider global audience.
“Every recognition Combo on the Run receives still feels a little surreal to me. We made a film that is deeply rooted in our culture, our music and our collective experience as Filipinos, so to watch it continue to travel and connect with audiences outside of home is incredibly meaningful,” Ventura said. “More than the award itself, I’m grateful that the film continues to create space for our stories and our artists on an international stage. I’ve always believed in the power and brilliance of Filipino talent. If Combo on the Run can contribute even a little to bringing more attention to that, then every difficult decision, sleepless night and challenge it took to make this film has been worth it.”
The latest accolade adds to the documentary’s growing list of global recognitions. Following its theatrical run in the Philippines and subsequent international screenings, Combo On The Run continues to introduce the Eraserheads’ story to audiences outside the Philippines, with its universal storytelling at the center.
Produced by DVent Productions, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run reinforces the production’s commitment to bringing Filipino music, films, and entertainment to a global level. DVent’s recent activities have also extended into large-scale live entertainment, including its co-production of the Ely Buendia and Chito Miranda concert in Dubai (with Live Nation and Tiana), which drew a sold-out crowd at the Coca-Cola Arena on August 30, 2026.
