Museum Hopping

Yesterday, I went to the National Museum of Natural History to watch Bird of Prey, a documentary on the Philippine Eagle. It was a beautiful film that captured the majesty and vulnerability of this regal animal.

After the film, I walked around Manila and went to the Metropolitan Museum of Manila to catch a lecture on Rembrandt’s life. It was also my first time at the museum, so I also viewed their modern art collection.

I ended my day with some cheesy gojuchang pasta and americano at my friend Bea’s cafe, Blocleaf. It was my first time to be in that cafe, and I loved the ambience, food, and coffee. I know that I’ll be back someday!

It was a treat to go museum-hopping and have some delicious food and coffee. Art, film, food, and coffee are affordable ways to enjoy life. These things make my life and heart full, and I am grateful to be able to delight in them.

Rizal’s 158th Birthday

Yesterday, I celebrated my favorite hero Jose Rizal’s 158th birth anniversary with my usual visit to Luneta. 

I also revisited my favorite works at the National Museum of Fine Arts. 

I will never stop being fascinated with our national hero and the artworks that have shaped our national identity. I am truly proud to be Filipino!

Rizal Day 2018

I’m a Rizal fan, so December 30 is always a special day for me. I celebrated Rizal Day by visiting Luneta and the National Museum! Here’s a photo dump of my adventure.

Rizal Park Hotel and Luneta

Yesterday, we celebrated my mom’s birthday at the Rizal Park Hotel. It was formerly the site of the Army Navy Club during the American period. Presently, it is a beautiful hotel with a sumptuous buffet at its very own Cafe Rizal. 

We enjoyed the food and the pretty ambience. I personally loved the pizza and desserts. It was also my first time to try chicken feet, and I was pleasantly surprised with its flavor. Coffee finished off our delicious meal.  

After lunch, we proceeded to Luneta to take pictures. 

I am grateful for the chance to enjoy good food and commemorate my favorite hero, Jose Rizal. I hope that there will be more opportunities for me to continue being nationalistic without having to take political sides. I simply love history and any place that will remind me of our rich heritage is definitely worth visiting. 

Rizal at 157

Yesterday, I celebrated my idol Jose Rizal’s 157th birthday by visiting his final resting place at Luneta. 

It was a beautiful day for strolling at Rizal Park.  

Visiting him was my primary agenda for spending the day at Manila.  

I also crossed the street to have my photos taken with the KM 0 marker. Fans of Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins will recognize the significance of this monument. This may not be in Paris, but it’s the next best thing! 

I took one last selfie with my hero before leaving Rizal Park.  

I concluded my visit by dropping by the statue of the Motherland.
