“Laika’s story inspired me deeply. I imagined Laika being brought into this world longing for affection, nurtured, and given love she thought was forever, only to end up as a mere tool to satisfy human arrogance. That tragedy made me reflect—why do we have to sacrifice another creature for what we chase? Those exact feelings became the representation for this entire album”

— Nadin Amizah

August 28th, 2026 – Celebrated Indonesian singer-songwriter Nadin Amizah officially releases her highly anticipated third studio album, 'Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan' (Laika, The Abandoned). Released under her independent label Sorai, the 11-track record is now available across all major global digital streaming platforms. Fans can listen to the album here.

The record takes its title from Laika, the Soviet space dog sent on a tragic one-way mission in 1957—using her story as a central metaphor for grief, fatherlessness, and unattended yearning that turns into rage.

At the core of 'Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan' lies a subtle yet poignant sociological commentary. Set against the backdrop of Indonesia’s reality as one of the world’s most fatherless nations, the album serves as an emotional sanctuary for those navigating life without a paternal figure or a safe home to return to.

This raw vulnerability is most evident in tracks like “Reservasi Untuk Dua” (Reservation for Two), where Nadin employs unusually harsh, profanely honest language.

“When people hear bitter words like ‘hell’ or ‘defiance’ in these songs, what they are actually witnessing is an injured child underneath,” Nadin says. “It is not hatred—it is pure, unadulterated pain”.

The raw sensitivity continues in “Ditemukan Sebuah Bangkai”, inspired by a real news report Nadin read during the 2020 Jakarta floods, where an unidentified body floated down the East Flood Canal. “Imagine: no relatives, no family, no one looking for them. Insane, isn't it?” Nadin shares. Yet, she rejects the savior label: “I’m simply witnessing the brokenness around me. Simply said, I feel the pain that you feel”.

Marking an important evolutionary step in her artistry, this album features two full English-language tracks—including the lead single “Moonlight” and “Take Him To The Moon For Me”—as well as clever code-switching in “Laika, Kau Mudah Dicinta”.

In tandem, 'Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan' marks Nadin’s most ambitious production to date, featuring 10 different producers across 11 tracks—including notable collaborators Lafa Pratomo, Baskara Putra, Enrico Octaviano, Otta Tarega, and Feby Putri, among others.

“Even from the songwriting process, I already had a vision for its sonic layout, including the people who could bring out the best in it,” she adds.

'Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan' follows her first two acclaimed records, 'Selamat Ulang Tahun' (2020) and 'Untuk Dunia, Cinta, & Kotornya' (2023).

About Nadin Amizah

Nadin Amizah is an Indonesian singer-songwriter celebrated for her dense, deeply poetic lyricism and theatrical stage presence. Marking her solo debut with the single “Rumpang” (2018), she has steadily established herself as one of the leading soloists in Indonesia's music landscape.

From day one, Nadin carved an independent path by founding her self-owned label, Sorai, which serves as the home for all her releases. Under Sorai, she has delivered two critically acclaimed studio albums: her debut 'Selamat Ulang Tahun' (2020) and 'Untuk Dunia, Cinta, & Kotornya' (2023), alongside an EP '(kalah bertaruh)' and singles such as “Rumpang”, “Sorai”, and “Bertaut”, among others.

Her musical exploration broadened further when she was handpicked to re-interpret Guruh Sukarnoputra’s timeless masterpiece, “Kala Sang Surya Tenggelam”, as the official soundtrack for the hit series 'Gadis Kretek (Cigarette Girl)'. She also notably collaborated with Dipha Barus on the single “All Good” (which won Best Dance/Electronic Production at the 2017 AMI Awards) and teamed up with fellow musician Sal Priadi for the highly acclaimed duet, “Amin Paling Serius”.

Her artistic accolades as a soloist include four AMI Awards—notably for Best Folk/Country/Ballad Production (2019, 2020, 2024) and Best Newcomer (2019)—alongside being named the most-streamed local female artist on Spotify Indonesia in 2025.

In August 2026, Nadin enters her most daring musical evolution yet with the release of her third studio album, 'Laika, Yang Ditinggalkan (Laika, The Abandoned)'.
