May 8th, 2026 — Singapore's indie-pop darling, singer-songwriter, and producer Shye has unveiled her long-awaited sophomore album, 'The Doves Came Home'. Her most expansive and personal record to date, it journeys through memory, distance, and the quiet act of coming home to oneself. Fans can stream the album HERE.
Rooted in '90s dream-pop with elements of shoegaze and alt-rock, the album unfolds like a slow-burning dream, moving between the weightless and the overwhelming. Shye's airy vocals drift over shimmering guitars before dissolving into walls of distortion and noise, creating a constant push and pull between intimacy and scale, softness and tension. Rather than offering resolution, 'The Doves Came Home' lingers in the in-between—where love fades in and out, silence speaks louder than words, and clarity arrives quietly. The result is a fragile, introspective sonic world, filled with all the words we wished we had said.
"It is a reminder that though clarity may arrive, acceptance takes time. Eventually, you begin to trust a direction without needing full certainty. Like a dove in mid-flight, you do not rush the landing but instead let yourself be carried, even if you do not know where it ends. Somehow, that is where the peace is found."
— Shye
The album's focus track, "In The End", serves as its emotional and melancholic core, drawing from the atmospheric sensibilities of Cocteau Twins, Ride, and The Smashing Pumpkins. Grounded in a quiet acceptance of impermanence, the track reinforces the record's central theme—that letting go is not an end, but a necessary step toward finding your way back to yourself.

As the album unfolds, this stillness evolves from uncertainty into self-discovery, shaping a body of work that feels both deeply personal and sonically cohesive. While "In The End" captures the subtle realisation of time moving forward, it is just one chapter in a 14-track record that feels both expansive and deeply personal: a reflection on returning, not to a place, but to oneself.
Born from a two-year evolution of sound and self, 'The Doves Came Home' invites listeners into a psychological refuge of vulnerability and quiet revelation. This collection showcases Shye's refined ability to build immersive, self-contained worlds through sound, resulting in a body of work that is both haunting and healing, guiding listeners through the delicate transition between who they were and who they are becoming.

Shye is an independent singer-songwriter and producer known for her dreamy blend of indie-pop and alt-rock. Entirely self-taught, she writes, records, produces, mixes, and masters all her music, crafting an unmistakably DIY sound that's both intimate and expansive.
Shye first emerged onto the scene at just 16, becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Vans Musicians Wanted competition in 2018. Since then, she's released a steady stream of work, including her debut EP 'Augus7ine' (2018), followed by the genre-blurring 14-track debut album 'days to morning glory' (2020), which won 'Album of the Year' at the Youth Music Awards in Singapore in 2021. Next came the experimental EP 'hello TRINITY' (2021), 'idk it’s complicated' (2022), and '9LIVES' (2023). In 2024 and 2025, Shye maintained her momentum with a series of new singles, paving the way for this year's new album.
Shye has performed at music festivals such as Tiger Den SXSW in Austin Texas (2023), Axean Festival in Singapore (2023), Asia Rolling Music Festival in Taiwan (2022), Urbanscapes in Malaysia (2019), Baybeats in Singapore (2023, 2019), Asiya Festival in the Philippines (2024), and virtually for Music Lane Okinawa (2021) and Bangkok Music City (2020). Shye kicked off 2026 with festival performances at Bangkok Music City, PRESSPLAY 2026 in Singapore, and All Of The Noise 2026 in Manila, further cementing her rising presence across Asia's indie music scene.
Her presence has since extended far beyond Singapore: from gracing a Times Square billboard for Spotify's EQUAL campaign to being named Freshmusic's 'Best New Artist' in 2021 to 'Best New Act from Asia' at the 2022 BandLab NME Awards and receiving the KKBOX 'Rising Star Award' the same year.
