May 9th, 2025 –  Toronto’s rising artist Chris LaRocca released his second single of the year – “laundry day” – today on Red Bull Records/Wonderchild. Fans can stream the song here and watch the visualizer here.

In “laundry day”, Chris LaRocca unpacks a quiet but pivotal moment in a relationship—the shift from playful beginnings to something lasting and real. With raw emotion and heartfelt lyrics, the Toronto native reflects on a night that marked the start of deeper commitment, capturing the vulnerability and depth of falling in love for the long haul.

Revisiting that time, LaRocca shares, “"laundry day" is about a moment I had with my partner outside of a laundromat in Toronto. While waiting for my laundry to dry, sitting in my car underneath a flickering streetlight, she became very vulnerable and opened up to me for the first time about her past, her immigrant experience, and her struggles up until that point. As much as my heart broke for her, I was so happy to be the person that made her feel safe and comfortable enough to let her walls down. This song is about that moment, and about young love turning from innocent to deep and intentional - the exact turning point where you put your pride down and become intertwined as one”.

While LaRocca has always been inspired by ‘70s rock and the Americana scene, he had never explored that kind of music for himself. “laundry day” sees him do just that, leaning into guitar-heavy instrumentation and twangy riffs. Grammy-winning Canadian artist and producer Daniel Lanois co-wrote "laundry day” with LaRocca, and joined him on the track with his iconic pedal steel, calling back to the era-defining rock he pioneered for greats like Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel. As the drums build, so does the palpable emotion, reverberating a 'live in studio' feel. Between the echoes of his harmonies, Chris LaRocca is earnest and timeless on “laundry day”.

Chris LaRocca — "laundry day" (Visualizer)

The triple threat artist, singer-songwriter, and producer took the last year away from releasing music – an intentional isolation from the wider music scene – to reflect on his life, career, and the artist he wanted to become. In March of this year, LaRocca returned with his first release, the indie-pop single “ladybug”, which served as a catchy debut of LaRocca's next chapter. With over 16 million career streams, 2025 marks a defining chapter for Chris—highlighting the depth of his artistry, from sharp production and songwriting to his unique voice and perspective.

About Chris LaRocca

In a previous life, Chris LaRocca was a fixture in Toronto’s DIY scene, playing sweaty basements around North America with his post-hardcore band. As that chapter of his sound slowly faded into the rearview, LaRocca transitioned from the stage to the studio, establishing himself as a dynamic producer and sought-after collaborator for top-shelf names like Kali Uchis, Bryson Tiller, Russ, and Stray Kids.

He soon caught the attention of GRAMMY-nominated, JUNO Award-winning producer, WondaGurl, joining her Wonderchild roster in partnership with Red Bull Records. His first full-length, 'i cried my eyes out', featured the song “linger”, which he brought to the screen in a heart-wrenchingly beautiful short film that won a Cannes Lion, among other accolades.

While he’d come a long way from his DIY days, there was a part of LaRocca yearning for the music that reflected his authentic identity. Cue his new EP, 'dog years'. In the year it took to create, LaRocca felt like he had lived through seven years' worth of challenges and personal growth. Going into 2024, he relocated from Toronto to the Canadian wilderness to follow the Americana, rootsy sounds that were calling to him.

Working with Daniel Lanois (Neil Young, Bob Dylan), Matt DeLong and Ben Cook (No Warning), Jahson Paynter, and Dave Marcus (21 Savage, Rico Nasty), LaRocca felt confident to not only traverse new genres, but to dive deep into his personal life. 'dog years' is both a time-lapse that sees his relationships bloom and a love letter to himself.

TikTok continues to be Chris LaRocca’s strongest platform, where he’s built a highly engaged fanbase. The Philippines now makes up more than 80% of his audience on the platform, highlighting his growing resonance with Southeast Asian listeners and the global reach of his music.
