About Laufey

Laufey (pronounced lay-vay) has captivated a generation with virtuosic songs of love and self-discovery by manifesting her vision of jazz-and classical-infused pop music. Now on 'A Matter of Time', Laufey further crystalizes her singular sound—one still rooted in her beloved influences, but which forgoes any strict standards or rules. “I’m constantly thinking about classical and jazz, how to properly preserve them and pay homage”. For this album she continues to do so while also noting, “I just wanted to let my heart wander”. To that end, she teamed with a pair of co-producers, one comforting and familiar—Spencer Stewart who worked with Laufey on her first two albums —and one new to her but deeply attuned to artists looking to open up: Aaron Dessner (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran). Feeling sonically unrestrained gave Laufey the space to share new sides of herself while exploring sometimes heavier themes. “People expect a pretty façade of girly clothes, fantastical stories, and romantic music,” she says. “This time, I was interested in seeing how I could draw out the most flawed parts of myself and look at them directly in the mirror”. A Matter of Time finds Laufey at her most daring—and also playful—as she captures the experience of “real love” in its many forms and what it means to observe as it strips you down to your most vulnerable and anxious.

As Laufey began to craft 'A Matter of Time', she felt freer than ever. “Every new album for me is a blank book of stories to write,” she says, and it’s true. An artist who pours her life experiences into her work, she infused 2022’s 'Everything I Know About Love' with coming-of-age tales revolving around leaving home, and for 2023’s GRAMMY®-winning 'Bewitched' she dove headlong into young love. Wolf Alice new album The Clearing, out now

Today, seminal British band Wolf Alice release their eagerly anticipated fourth studio album The Clearing, alongside focus track ‘Just Two Girls’, via Sony Music.

Speaking on the new track, Rowsell adds: “I was inspired by going for dinner with my friends — a couple of friends, at different times, just one-on-one. I noticed how much I was saying Oh my god yeah you’re so right! And I thought it was so nice to see how validating these conversations with my girlfriends are, how much I’m learning in these chats. I think I’ve been trying to figure out a lot of things, like getting older. I feel it’s really been a strange time of thinking about appearance. And these are things you hash out with your girlfriends and suddenly you don’t feel so shit about them again. I just felt like there deserved to be a song about that.”

Following a potent trio of singles ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, ‘The Sofa’ and most recent ‘White Horses’ - each unveiling a distinct sonic direction - The Clearing arrives as a moment of crystallisation for one of the UK’s most inventive and emotionally charged bands. Written in Seven Sisters and recorded in LA with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin, The Clearing is a widescreen collection of songs that are bold in ambition, full of heart, and the band’s most refined work yet. It’s a classic pop/rock album that nods to the ‘70s while remaining rooted firmly in the present. If Fleetwood Mac wrote an album today in North London, you’d get somewhere close to this run of effortlessly grand tracks, each as distinct as the last.

The band celebrated last night with a history-defining release show at The Dublin Castle in Camden, hallowed ground for a band whose impact in their native North London is impossible to measure. The celebration extended next door with a special pop-up event, where fans got an early listen to the album and access to exclusive merch.

At its core, The Clearing is a record about arrival - not at a destination, but at a sense of peace with the journey. Whether that’s the self-interrogation of ‘Thorns’, the yearning nostalgia of ‘Leaning Against The Wall’, or the raw intimacy of ‘Play It Out’, each track maps a waypoint in the band’s evolution. From the rolling euphoria of ‘Bread Butter Tea Sugar’, to the assuring acceptance of ‘The Sofa’, the record captures a band unafraid to push themselves further than ever before. This is Wolf Alice fully in command - no longer searching, but stepping confidently into a new chapter.

The album’s title serves as both a quiet mission statement and emotional centerpiece. It finds the four piece meditating on what remains when the uncertainty, insecurities and self-deprecation of your 20s falls away. The sentiment - “Know who I am, that’s important to me. Do what I can to see the wood from the trees” (White Horses) - is less a declaration of triumph than of peaceful acceptance. The Clearing is Wolf Alice’s most accomplished and affecting work to date.

"Famous" was born on the final day of a week-long songwriting camp in Limoux, France, where Astra finally stepped into a room he'd been eyeing all week—outfitted with a Steinway piano, vintage drums, and live guitars. Set against the backdrop of rolling hills, horse stables, and centuries-old wine cellars, it became the perfect space to create something raw, soulful, and completely unfiltered.

More than a song, "Famous" is a feeling. It's not about chasing the spotlight—it's about capturing the magic of a moment. Pulsing with spontaneity and honesty, the track is a celebration of vibe, place, and presence—a reminder to embrace the moments that make life feel golden.

"I wanted to capture the feeling of that week in the south of France: something fresh, soulful, and free. Channeling Pharrell's "Beautiful", Jamiroquai's uptempo Funk and Anderson Paak's R&B,  I produced "Famous" with fellow creators Joris and Doane. The song's production was recorded live in one day, including the demo vocals which we never re-tracked to really capture that energy and feeling from that day."

Filipino-Ghanian artist and producer Jewel Owusu releases new single "spark"

Her infectious dance-pop confessional reframes fleeting attraction into a deeper conversation about love, self-confidence, and desire

Filipino-Ghanaian artist and producer Jewel Owusu dives into the complexity of desire in her new single “spark”—out on all digital music platforms worldwide this Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The suave electro-pop track dabbles between introspection and dance-floor energy, reflecting on fleeting thoughts about someone else that arrive uninvited. Rather than framing them as dangerous and destructive, Owusu examines them as symbols of freedom and excitement and of the aliveness that can sometimes feel distant in a settled routine.

Produced by close collaborator Aria Wood, “spark” matches its thematic duality. Conceived during an impromptu studio session, the song pairs shimmering synth layers with rhythmic precision. One intriguing production choice—a robotic voice delivering the word “heat” in place of Owusu’s vocal—has become a recurring motif in her current body of work, lending a futuristic edge to the track’s sensual undertones.

Owusu reveals that she played around with different details to make each chorus and drop feel a little different every time. “A fun detail comes right before the second drop, where we knew we wanted something wild, like a siren or a shout,” the eclectic pop newcomer shares. “I recorded tons of whoosh sounds for the riser and experimented with different shouts. After a lot of trial and error, we landed on a scream, which felt perfect. A similar thing happened before the final drop in the last chorus. We knew we needed something unique in that moment, but we weren’t sure what. After experimenting, we decided on the word “whatever,” which adds a playful vibe and sound.”

Though anchored in personal reflection, “spark” ultimately thrives in movement. With its propulsive beats and infectious drops, Owusu hopes the song provides a moment of release: a soundtrack for letting go, even if just for a few minutes.

“spark” will be part of Jewel Owusu’s upcoming new EP, set to be released sometime this year. OPM icon Jay R links up with Los Angeles-based pop newcomer Shanice on their collaborative single, “Never Ever”—released on Friday, August 22, 2025 via Hitmakers Entertainment and Symphonic Asia.

Produced and co-written by Grammy-nominated Mark Feist, alongside Shanice and Jay R, the sophisticated R&B jam tackles a kind of love that stays and sticks even when the pieces don’t quite fit. With suave and soulful vocals that cut through a bed of lush strings, slow-burning grooves, and hypnotic instrumentation, “Never Ever” captures the soothing warmth of coming home to a loved one, pledging devotion even through life’s coldest seasons.

“Never Ever is about love and wanting it forever,” says Mark Feist, the chart-topping producer behind worldwide hits like Destiny’s Child’s Emotions. “It’s a tale as old as time, and something all people can relate to, whether it manifests in the form of love, loss, or longing.”

The track’s creative journey began with Shanice’s scratch melody, which Feist reimagined from a straightforward 4/4 into a sweeping 6/8 to give the song a more cinematic, flowing quality. From there, he restructured the arrangement, placing the hook at the forefront and refining the chord progression to build emotional momentum.

The recording took place between Los Angeles and Manila, with Shanice and Jay R laying their vocals in separate studios. Feist incorporated live instrumentation, tapping Erick Walls (Usher, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson) on electric guitar and Courtney Leonard (Chris Brown, Beyoncé) on bass. Every sonic detail was shaped to enhance the emotional arc of the lyrics, from the delicate intro to the soaring, anthemic chorus.

“Once the lyrics were complete and Jay R added his Tagalog parts, the song kind of produced itself,” recalls Feist. “I heard all of these amazing string parts in my head, wrote them down and built the track around that lush foundation. This is one of the productions that I’m most proud of—not only for the music, but the way it brought together incredible talent from two continents into one seamless piece of art.”

For Jay R and Shanice, the collaboration brought the best of both worlds, literally and figuratively. “Shanice wrote the song and presented it already perfect,” reveals the King of R&B. “I just added a few Tagalog lyrics to better fit our market. She’s incredibly talented, and we share a natural chemistry on stage.”

Shanice shares the same sentiment, praising Jay R for his commitment to the collaborative process. “Working with Jay R is so cool! The creative process was natural and easy. Jolianne links up with Ziv in “Kuryente,” a song co-written by Ben&Ben’s Miguel Benjamin

The track navigates the heart-melting feeling of infatuation and young love

Rising Filipino artist Jolianne teams up with acclaimed Korean producer Ziv for “Kuryente,” a sticky-sweet, pop soul track that captures the feeling of infatuation in its earliest stages.

Co-written by Miguel Benjamin of the award-winning band Ben&Ben as a love letter to his wife with Jolianne and Ziv as equally involved in the songwriting process, “Kuryente” was inspired by the couple’s intimate anecdotes, where they feel tiny jolts of static electricity whenever their hands touch. This tender detail shaped the song, later brought to life through Ziv’s intricate but playful production and Jolianne’s glistening interpretation.

“That inspired me to make and produce this playful song about how infatuation and early romance feels,” shares Ziv. ““I really wanted to hit the right balances of expressing who I was through my musical background. Being Korean yet being born here in the Philippines, I wanted to find the right balance of putting both of those influences into the production, which I feel makes it unique.”

For Jolianne, embracing that feeling meant channeling innocence, excitement, and the thrill of being lit up by someone’s presence. To prepare for the vocal take, Jolianne envisioned herself as the lead in a teleserye, where every glance and touch is charged with meaning. She wanted to interpret the material with the right mix of sweetness, playfulness, and kilig—a uniquely Filipino word that captures the fluttering joy of being overwhelmed by romance.

“Vocally, this was one of the more challenging songs I’ve put out because it pushed me to access my voice in a different way,” the “Plain Girl” songstress adds. “From a technical standpoint, I experimented a lot with dynamics and registers. And of course, singing in Tagalog also shaped the way I sounded here, adding another layer of character to the performance.”

Blending funky pop groove with heart-stopping charisma, “Kuryente” pulls off its tricks by pairing Jolianne’s silky, infectious vocals with Ziv’s soulful and Korean R&B-style production.

Ziv explains, “There's a blend of ease and tension that I always want to include in my productions. And so the groove, blended with the romantic feel, was what I went for in this arrangement. It was also inspired by a lot of the artists and music I've been listening to recently.”

We Are Imaginary to represent the Philippines in Vietnam for NO HEADLINER festival

Manila, Philippines / August 19, 2025 — Filipino indie rock band We Are Imaginary will be representing the Philippines atthis year’s NO HEADLINER 4, happening in West Lake Water Park in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 18 - 19, 2025.

Now bigger in scale and freer in spirit, the independent music festival will bring together 20 international and local acts, spanning genres from alternative rock, indie, R&B, experimental, and beyond. Alongside the live music segment of the festival, the creative experience area has also been expanded to offer audiences a range of engaging, art-connected activities and interactive spaces.

“It is always our dream to be heard around Asia so to be invited and to play once again outside our usual turf is such an exciting opportunity,” shares Ahmad Tanji, the lead vocalist and guitarist of We Are Imaginary. “Our last international gig was for the Archipelago Festival (Jakarta, Indonesia) last 2017. It has been a while indeed.”

We Are Imaginary is the first Filipino band to be performing in the Hanoi-based festival, an opportunity that comes ahead of their long overdue album, slated to be released at the end of the year.

“We also have a new single this October, and hopefully we’ll be able to drop our long overdue album this November,” Ahmad adds. “We are planning lots of shows in different cities in and out of the Philippines. Watch out for that!”

A month ago, the Filipino indie rock outfit released their new single “Stockholm,” is a gripping meditation on toxic attachment disguised as love. The track marks a pivotal moment for frontman and guitarist Ahmad Tanji, who channels years of disquietude into one of the band’s most sonically and lyrically captivating releases to date.

August 19th, 2025 – Philippines – Earlier this month, Hayley Williams surprised fans by dropping a collection of 17 singles, produced entirely by Daniel James. Today, she has unveiled a music video for the single “Glum”, directed by Paramore bandmate Zac Farro and AJ Gibboney. Watch here.

After 20+ years spent fulfilling their contract for Atlantic Records – a contract Williams signed as a mere teenager – Paramore announced in December of 2023 that they were finally an independent band. This surprise collection of songs is self-released by Hayley Williams on her new venture Post Atlantic, distributed via Secretly Distribution. Williams and Daniel James wrote, played and recorded a variety of instruments across each of the newly released tracks, with cross-project contributions from long-time collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard, and contributions from Jim-E Stack on “True Believer”, which currently sits at #1 on the Billboard Alternative Digital Sales Chart.

She also has released a music video for “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party”, directed by Zachary Gray. The clip features a portrait of Williams’ hometown of Nashville. You can see her contemplating the city at dusk with Representative Justin Jones, sifting through the crowds on Broadway and singing in a karaoke bar. 

These 17 singles put Hayley Williams’ full range on display. “Mirtazapine” is a late-’90s alt-rock love letter to antidepressants, while on “Glum”, she subverts her own voice—using vocal presets to striking effect as the track meditates on loneliness. Other standouts include “Whim”, an easy Americana earworm with a songwriting backbone that nods to her Nashville roots, and “Ice in My OJ”, a thoroughly modern track that pairs sharp production with some of Williams’ most biting and humorous lyrics to date. Long-time Paramore fans may quickly recognize the “Ice In My OJ” chorus, as it was first sung by Williams in 2004 on "Jumping Inside" by the Mammoth City Messengers. The collection captures all the dynamism Williams has shown throughout her career and collaborations. At its core, these songs are the work of a supremely gifted artist with a voracious, genre-defying appetite for music and creative exploration.

These songs come as the third batch of work released from Williams as a solo artist. The COVID-era saw her release two extraordinary albums – 2020’s 'Petals For Armor' and 2021’s 'Flowers for Vases'. Both albums were gorgeous and stark meditations on loss and offered up a contrast to the high-energy and up-tempo muscle she displays in Paramore.

Meet CIRIS: The Watchdog Fighting Disinformation in the West Philippine Sea

In the escalating battle over the West Philippine Sea (WPS), disinformation has emerged as a powerful weapon. Standing at the frontlines of this information war is the Center for Information Resilience and Integrity Studies or CIRIS, a non-profit organization committed to exposing disinformation and strengthening national resilience through credible storytelling and strategic communications.

CIRIS is led by Michel Andre P. del Rosario, its Executive Director and a former Assistant Secretary under former Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil. During his tenure in government, del Rosario chaired the Information Working Group of the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea, giving him firsthand experience in countering foreign malign influence campaigns that sought to distort public understanding of the WPS issue.

“CIRIS was born out of the realization that combating disinformation isn’t just about fact-checking—it’s about protecting our sovereignty,” del Rosario explains. “We need to ensure that truth not only reaches people but resonates deeply enough to drive real action.”

Backed by practitioners in strategic communications, national security, media, and policy research, CIRIS bridges the gap between government, civil society, and the public. Its team and network includes media professionals, researchers, and former officials who understand both the technical complexity of information or cognitive warfare and the emotional power of storytelling.

For CIRIS, the stakes are clear. The Philippines has 90.8 million social media users, nearly 80% of its population, who spend an average of 10 hours daily online—making them prime targets for coordinated disinformation campaigns.

“Disinformation around the WPS is not random noise,” del Rosario warns. “It’s information warfare designed to erode our resolve, divide our society, and diminish our confidence in defending what is rightfully ours.”

Common tactics include false legal claims, the use of paid troll armies and fake experts, and even AI-generated personas that populate interconnected networks of fake social media accounts. These networks spread narratives that downplay foreign aggression, discredit frontline defenders, negate the Philippines’ 2016 arbitral victory, and accuse civil society of foreign influence.

CIRIS counters these tactics through what it calls the ARM Framework: Awareness, Resilience, and Motivation. “It’s not enough to tell the truth,” del Rosario says. “We need to connect truth to action.”

Through media campaigns, partnerships with journalists and academics, and support for documentary films like Food Delivery and the much-awaited short film Alon ng Kabayanihan, CIRIS turns complex national security issues into emotionally compelling stories that inform and mobilize.

Alon ng Kabayanihan, produced in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, highlights the courage of soldiers and fishermen defending Philippine waters. “We want audiences to leave with clarity and conviction,” Del Rosario says. “The West Philippine Sea belongs to the Philippines, and protecting it is a shared responsibility.”

CIRIS also recognizes the importance of reaching younger Filipinos. With Gen Z and Gen Alpha consuming content primarily on social media, CIRIS tailors its messaging for digital-native platforms. The group urges youth to “pause, study, and verify before sharing,” resisting the impulse to repost unverified content that could unintentionally spread foreign propaganda. Critical thinking and digital literacy are core to CIRIS’s mission. “Defending the truth in this era is not optional—it’s a civic duty,” del Rosario emphasizes.

For CIRIS, the fight against disinformation is not limited to institutions—it’s a shared societal responsibility. The organization urges Filipinos to call out falsehoods within their circles, challenge defeatism, and engage with credible sources like trusted media outlets, verified government platforms, and reputable information hubs.

“We are asking Filipinos to arm themselves with facts,” Del Rosario stresses. “Call out disinformation. Call out fear-mongering. Defending our sovereignty begins with defending the truth.”

As disinformation grows more sophisticated, CIRIS is expanding its partnerships and doubling down on emotionally resonant media that counter malign influence. Upcoming initiatives include broader digital literacy campaigns and deeper engagement with community leaders and grassroots networks.

Ultimately, CIRIS’s mission is clear: to turn truth into a force that empowers, unites, and strengthens the Philippines’ resolve in the face of disinformation and foreign coercion.

“In the West Philippine Sea, our sovereignty is on the line,” del Rosario concludes. “But so is our reality, our truths. Fighting for the truth is fighting for our future.”
