JERGE joins Spotify RADAR Philippines 2025, releases new single “Kalul’wa”

March 29, 2025

The track captures the sound of quiet isolation, trauma, and healing

Rising artist JERGE proves that he’s more than just a viral sensation. Known for his comedy skits on TikTok, the multi-talented artist continues to expand his portfolio as a recording star, earning a coveted spot in Spotify RADAR Philippines Class of 2025. This achievement places him alongside the esteemed ranks of emerging Filipino artists, including Dilaw, Ena Mori, BGYO, ONE CLICK STRAIGHT, Costa Cashman, and more.

Expressing his disbelief and gratitude, JERGE took to Instagram to reflect on his journey. “Music has been my way to tell a story, express my emotions, and connect with people since day one. And now, with Spotify and the RADAR program, I get to share my world with even more listeners.”

With these recent developments, JERGE remains steadfast in his creative pursuit, recently unveiling his new single “Kalul’wa,” under evosound PH. Delicately woven with ethereal vocals and somber acoustic instrumentation, the song essays the lingering weight of past traumas and the painful yet necessary process of moving forward.

Rooted in personal experience, JERGE describes the track as a deeply confessional piece. “With everything I've been through these past few years, I've realized that there are really things you need to leave behind no matter how much you love them,” he shares. “Kalul’wa is about accepting that not everything is meant to stay; sometimes we just need to let go to protect our peace.”

Produced by Paulo Agudelo, the track carries a sense of warmth and solace, subtly embracing the listener with its cinematic sound. However, bringing “Kalul’wa” to life was not without challenges.

“Before we could even begin recording, I didn’t have a guitar to compose freely. I had to rely on MIDI from my laptop to create the demo,” JERGE recalls. “Once the demo was finalized, I worked with Sir Paulo Agudelo in the studio, where we recorded the instrumentals and vocals.”

Marked by an evocative sense of quiet isolation, “Kalul’wa” embodies both pain and healing: piercing yet tender, sorrowful yet cathartic.

JERGE’s “Kalul’wa” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via evosound PH.

Chris LaRocca Rewrites The Rules Of Alt-Pop With "ladybug", Announces Forthcoming EP 'dog years'

March 28, 2025

ANNOUNCES FORTHCOMING EP 'DOG YEARS'

ON RED BULL RECORDS/WONDERCHILD

March 28th, 2025 –  Canadian singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Chris LaRocca has announced his next EP, ‘dog years’, which will arrive later this year on Red Bull Records/Wonderchild. Ushering in the new chapter of his artistry, the first single “ladybug” is out now via Red Bull Records/Wonderchild. Fans can stream the song here and watch the visualizer here.

“ladybug"  introduces listeners to a version of Chris LaRocca that is raw, introspective, and just a little smitten. The track is reminiscent of a retro sound with modern indie influences, introducing a brighter, bolder era of LaRocca’s music.

Chris LaRocca shares, “When a ladybug lands on you, it’s supposed to be a sign of good luck. This is how I felt when my partner came into my life, seemingly out of nowhere. “ladybug” is an ode to unexpected love, and the places that kind of love can take you to. I wrote this song to honour a moment I will never forget, and to remind the world that the best things come when you least expect them.”

Chris LaRocca — "ladybug" (Visualizer)

Over the last year, LaRocca took a step back to reflect on the music of generational greats—The Band, The Byrds, MJ Lenderman—who have inspired him to create something just as timeless. Drawing from their influence while staying true to his versatile musicality, he infused the project with the sensibilities of '70s-era rock and the storytelling of rootsy americana, all while adding his own alt-pop twist.

While sonically this era differs from his previous project, 'i cried my eyes out’, LaRocca’s authenticity and palpable emotion remains the same. That dynamic energy can be felt in "ladybug”, priming future audiences for the electric live shows he’s become known for.

About Chris LaRocca

In a previous life, Chris LaRocca was a fixture in Toronto’s DIY scene, playing sweaty basements around North America with his post-hardcore band. As that chapter of his sound slowly faded into the rearview, LaRocca transitioned from the stage to the studio, establishing himself as a dynamic producer and sought-after collaborator for top-shelf names like Kali Uchis, Bryson Tiller, Russ, and Stray Kids.

He soon caught the attention of GRAMMY-nominated, JUNO Award-winning producer, WondaGurl, joining her Wonderchild roster in partnership with Red Bull Records. His first full-length,
'i cried my eyes out', featured the song “linger”, which he brought to the screen in a heart-wrenchingly beautiful short film that won a Cannes Lion, among other accolades.

While he’d come a long way from his DIY days, there was a part of LaRocca yearning for the music that reflected his authentic identity. “I started listening to a lot of The Band, Steely Dan, The Byrds – they were all such big influences, and I was looking for parallels between their world and mine”.

He found in a year of self-discovery, the music that was most true to his character wasn’t the chaotic, brain-melting noise of his early punk years. Instead, it was deeply rooted in introspective songwriting with notes of untamed exploration and refined energy. Going into 2024, he relocated from Toronto to the Canadian wilderness to follow the Americana, rootsy sounds that were calling to him. Stay tuned for a new era of Chris LaRocca.

LaRocca's top 10 streaming markets globally include #4 the Philippines 🇵🇭,  #6 Indonesia 🇮🇩,  #8 Thailand 🇹🇭, and #10 Taiwan 🇹🇼.

Ace Banzuelo explores the hopeful, more meaningful side of love in “Kilala”

March 28, 2025

The track sets the tone for his new era in music

Ace Banzuelo examines the beauty of fleeting yet profound connections in his new single “Kilala,” released under Sony Music Entertainment.

A dreamy, melancholic pop track, “Kilala” revels in romantic longing: those heart-fluttering moments that often escape definition. In Ace’s universe, love doesn’t always require shout-from-the-rooftops kind of admission or grand declarations. Sometimes, it lingers in the quiet, unscripted moments that leave imprint long after they pass.

“You may not realize it, but it could be love,” he adds. “This song is about not wanting to lose someone you know you have a great connection with. A lot of people can relate to this.”

Set against a backdrop of minimal guitars, gentle synths, and electronic flourishes, “Kilala” delivers a vocal performance that is bright and hopeful, yet punctuated with emotionally incisive tone. The song proves that Ace thrives in the contemporary pop music realm, exercising his potential as a future visionary.

The Muli act speaks fondly about the creative process behind his new song, emphasizing his hands-on approach to songwriting and production. “I mixed real and digital percussive elements on this track and recorded with a new guitar. It’s my new baby, I love it so much. Kilala is one of the new songs I wrote and recorded in my new place/studio as well. I’ve been enjoying the view and making songs in that room.”

Having previous explored themes of heartbreak and missed connections, Ace is ready to embrace a different approach to songwriting, one that delves with the intricacies of love and emotional awakening. “Kilala” serves as a prelude to a new chapter in his release cycle, where he aims to channel these sentiments through his signature brand of alt-pop storytelling. It’s also his first release of 2025, which marks the beginning of his “love song” era.

“I’ve been coming out with a lot of heartbreak songs since my Red era,” admits Ace. “This time, I want to release songs that explore the softer, more optimistic side of love.”

Ace Banzuelo’s “Kilala” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. The track’s visualizer will be out today at 7 pm.

Culture Wars Pen Angry Letter on Rock n’ Roll Belter “Typical Ways”

March 28, 2025

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO HERE

3.28.25 AUSTIN, TX: Austin-based band Culture Wars have shared their shout-from-the-rooftops single “Typical Ways,” available to stream now on all DSPs worldwide.

Culture Wars layer guitars and stadium vocals on the band’s hardest hitting release to date about the cycle of addiction and falling into one's typical ways. Vocalist Alex Dugan wrote the song as an angry letter to himself - its explosive, belt-worthy chorus showcases a level of emotion and angst all but lost in modern rock n’ roll. The track comes on the heels of the band’s supporting Mexico run with 2000s icons Keane and Asia stadium tours with Maroon 5, LANY, and The Script, where “Typical Ways” consistently received the loudest cheers from virtually every crowd, carving out a global presence for Culture Wars.

Alex describes the song's unexpected origins: "Typical Ways” is a song that came out of thin air. Dillon came over and showed me a guitar riff and song idea he'd be working on, which I thought was cool but couldn't think of anything to sing to it. However, overnight I had written the whole thing in my sleep and woke up the next morning immediately singing the entire verse and chorus in my head. I quickly recorded it to my phone and showed it to Dillon. Since then, “Typical Ways” has consistently been the biggest roar from the crowd night after night on every tour across the world, which gave us a pretty clear indication we did something right. The earliest song from the album, “Typical Ways” was written in Austin, TX and later recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. The song was written from a time before I met my wife when I was not in a good mental state. I consider this song to be an angry letter I wrote to myself."

In addition to releasing new music, Culture Wars will support LANY at their upcoming Taiwan performance at Kaohsiung Music Center on June 1st.

Slated for 2025, Culture Wars’ forthcoming album arrives ready to connect with a generation starved for authenticity and provocation in their rock bands. The group’s energizing and unapologetically moving record a breath of fresh air full of ambition and pure intentions. As the band’s name implies, seemingly disparate passions battle within the songs, somehow beautifully making peace. Combining the past, present, and future with bold swagger emphasizing mastery of actual instruments, Culture Wars oozes with honesty, ambition, and unabashedness built to resonate with diverse audiences. In 2021, the band released their widely praised debut EP teche, amassing 11 million+ streams independently, inciting a flurry of activity on TikTok, and charting top 30 at US alt radio. Highlights include tracks like “Faith,” “Lose Money,” and “Leave Me Alone,” which was featured on the GRAMMY-nominated soundtrack for Bill & Ted Face the Music. The band’s recently released tracks “Heaven” and “It Hurts” (top 20 US alt radio) have amassed over 10 million streams in just a few months, catapulting the band to new heights in 2025.

KAIA collaborates with hitmaker Zack Tabudlo on the lighthearted pop banger “TANGA”

March 28, 2025

The song tackles a kind of love that borders on blindinnocence

Filipino girl group KAIA continues to deliver another inescapable bop in the form of “TANGA”—out today via Sony Music Entertainment. Produced and composed by Zack Tabudlo, one of the country’s most sought-after hitmakers, the track blends pop confection with a lightness and ‘90s R&B flair.

For the five-piece alphas, the opportunity to collaborate with Zack Tabudlo was a dream come true.

“At first, it was hard to believe that we were actually given the opportunity to work with him, especially since we’ve been fans of his music for so long,” the group shares in a collective statement. “From our trainee days and pre-debut era, we would sing along to his songs, and now, it feels surreal to have collaborated with him on TANGA. We've been preparing this song and keeping it a secret since last year, and we’re so excited to finally share it with you all soon.”

At its core, “TANGA” centers on a love that borders on naiveté, a relatable feeling that some people go through at some point in their life. Balancing a humorous, light vibe with a sense of introspection, the song tells the all-too-familiar story of choosing to ignore the red flags in a relationship just to hold on a little longer.

KAIA explains the rationale of interpreting a material that doubles as a cautionary tale. “When we first listened to the song, it made us feel less alone. It’s like a reminder that it’s okay to go through a phase where you feel ‘tanga’ in love, as long as you eventually find your way back. The contrast between the playful sound and the introspective lyrics makes the song even more special: it’s a journey of realizing your worth. And in the end, you see that the people who truly care for you, like your family and friends, have always been there to support you.”

Beyond lending his expertise as a songwriter and producer, Zack was integral in adding a unique dimension to KAIA’s well-roundedness, allowing them to showcase their range and versatility with a more nuanced approach.

According to the Walang Biruan phenoms, the award-winning chart-topper was very detail-oriented as a collaborator, pushing them to own their artistry in the recording booth, which it turns out, was actually his home.

“The whole process felt so organic,” KAIA describes the collaborative process between them and Zack. “He encouraged us to be looser and freer in creating our own ad-libs and melodies. Zack also introduced us to new styles and techniques, which made the experience even more exciting. Seeing how he works and how effortlessly he brings a song to life was truly inspiring.”

With “TANGA” marking a pivot to an interesting sonic direction for the girl group, KAIA is currently gearing up for their upcoming EP, which they hint will feature “new styles, fresh vibes, and music that truly represents us.”

KAIA’s “TANGA” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

SOS memorializes maturity in highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘It Was A Moment’

March 28, 2025

The second full-length album sees the band’s contemplative departure from the coming-of-age ‘Whatever That Was’ era

(CREDIT: RENZO NAVARRO)

PRE-SAVE LINK

March 28, 2025 (Manila, Philippines) — The highly anticipated sophomore album of SOS, It Was A Moment, is finally here.

Following the release of the carrier single, “Yumi & The Apocalypse” earlier this month, SOS’s latest 11-track project is characterized by the band as a complete departure from their beloved debut album, Whatever That Was, released in 2017. Whereas its predecessor is more reactive and immediate, It Was A Moment is lighter and less fussy in many ways, removing the proverbial chip on the shoulder. Technically, it’s as exacting as one can expect from the group—more sonically expansive and experimental, primarily thanks to the beautifully added sheen of synths and keys to classic SOS anthemic guitars—but thematically, It Was AMoment sees members Seña, Andrew, Anjo, King, and Ram become more deliberate spectators of others as much as themselves (“employing the ‘art of noticing,’” Seña remarks) while keeping the interior feel and unfading anxieties of Whatever That Was.

Of the shift in tone, Andrew explains, “Whatever That Was is a product of constant road-testing and weekly bar shows that shaped the performances of the tracks upon recording. It Was A Moment is more like a lab experiment.” King describes it as a reflection of “transitional stages” of their lives—entering into their 30s, with bigger worlds and more responsibilities. This also marks the band’s first full-length release since the addition of Ram in 2023.

The album includes four previously released singles, “Seryoso” and “Please Lang” (the only two Tagalog-language songs in the band’s discography so far), “Roses” and long-time fan-favorite “Amore” (which was finally released in October last year), as well as the carrier single, “Yumi & The Apocalypse.”

SOS continues to contend with weariness in “I’m Kidding” and “Money” while fighting off cynicism in “Yumi & The Apocalypse” and “It’s History.” Meanwhile, relationship woes become more bearable with faith in “Love Kept Us Warm,” but “French Exit” makes the case for knowing when to call it quits. While these binaries are broader, album closer and standout track “It Was A Moment” was described as “a love letter to SOS fans.” While it contains lyrical and sonic callbacks to past SOS eras, the title track dovetails the enduring appeal of the older SOS catalog with more adventurous production—and earns its longer runtime. It’s the kind of grownness that never punctuates, just evolves.

Following the album release, SOS is set to hit the road (and continue writing, according to Ram). “We’re planning on touring the album around Metro Manila first and we’ll probably have a few shows outside if time permits! We just want to share our journey as SOS and hopefully have the album resonate to people who need to hear our new songs,” shares King.

It Was A Moment was recorded at the band’s Bavarian Studios in La Union, mixed and mastered by Cholo Hermosa of 15D Studio Mix (“Please Lang” was mastered by Chris Gheringer), with vocal engineering by Eric Trono. Vocals recorded at Careless Complex, drums for “Amore” and “Love Kept Us Warm” recorded at Kwarto Studios. Trumpet on “Yumi & The Apocalypse” was performed by Kiddo Cosio.

It Was A Moment tracklist:

1. Amore

2. Roses

3. I'm Kidding

4. It's History

5. French Exit

6. Money

7. Please Lang

8. Seryoso

9. Yumi & The Apocalypse (carrier single)

10. Love Kept Us Warm

11. It Was A Moment

About SOS:

SOS (pronounced like “sauce”) is an alternative band from Manila, Philippines. Formerly known as She’s Only Sixteen, members Roberto Seña (vocals, guitar, synths), Andrew Panopio (guitar), Anjo Silvoza (bass), Ram Alonzo (keys, synths), and King Puentespina (drums, synths) derive their influences from genre- and era-spanning styles: juxtaposing occasionally anthemic, often inescapable rhythms with lyrical themes that explore realist jadedness in almost real-time weariness, as well as human complexities with lush, buoyant production styles. This irony is at the core of the band’s galvanizing live performances, where they project human fallibility—strikingly—with both tenderness and animosity. SOS has performed extensively in the Philippines and across Asia, including Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan. Their sophomore LP, It Was A Moment, was released in March 2025 and the band is set to go on tour.

ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp Returns: 10 Days, 3 Regions, 1 Cultural Canvas

March 27, 2025

• The camp brings artists from ASEAN, Timor Leste, and India into a shared creative space, where ideas will flow as freely as paint and conversations bridge cultures

• The masterpieces created during the camp will first be displayed in a special exhibition in Shillong, followed by showcases in New Delhi and Malaysia, the ASEAN Chair for 2025

More photos here

The ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp (AIAC) is set to return for its third edition from March 29 to April 7, 2025, bringing together 21 artists from ASEAN Member States, Timor Leste, and India for a ten-day residency in Shillong. Organized by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in collaboration with Seher, the camp will mark ten years of India’s Act East Policy, using art as a medium for cultural dialogue in line with the decisions taken and endorsed in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and India’s comprehensive strategic partnership ahead in the field of culture.

First conceptualized in 2017 by Sanjeev Bhargava, Founder-Director of SEHER, AIAC has emerged as a key platform for cultural engagement between India and Southeast Asia. Unlike traditional diplomatic gatherings, it will offer a more intimate setting, where artists from different regions, tucked away together, will spend days exchanging techniques, experiences, and perspectives over steaming cups of tea. The focus is not solely on the stunning works they will create - though those are sure to impress - but on the quiet, meaningful exchanges that will echo long after the camp wraps up. Over ten days, artists will create original works, take part in workshops on classical dance, music, and handicrafts, and explore India’s artistic traditions in a collaborative setting. They will also hold interactive sessions with local art students in Shillong and conduct a special workshop at a local school, where visiting ASEAN artists will share their skills and experiences with young learners.

Some of the ASEAN artists taking part in the camp are Ms. Chong Ai Chezer (Singapore), Mr. Abilio da Conceição Silva (Timor Leste), Mr. Panich Phupratana (Thailand), Mr. PhonesithYernsensuly (Lao PDR), Ms. Mohana Kumara Velu (Malaysia), Ms. Lou Lim (Philippines), Ms. Nwe Ni Soe (Myanmar), Mr. Ros Norak (Cambodia), along with Indian artists Ms. MrudulaKunatharaju (multi-disciplinary artist), Ms. Mousumi Biswas (realistic figurative paintings), Ms. Japani Shyam Dhurwey(Gond artist), Mr. Kazi Nasir (realistic contemporary nature and wildlife paintings), Mr. Prakash Joshi (Phad artist), Mr. Aayush (wash painting), Mr. Vinay Kumar (Cheriyal artist), Mr. BappaChitrakar (Kali Ghat artist), Mr. Chandan Bez Baruah (Postmodernism in Landscape), Mr. Raphael Warjri (acrylic painting).

During the camp, the artists will talk about various forms of painting and their shared cultural histories in various styles and forms of art, initiated and guided by the esteemed Mentors of the Camp—Samindranath Majumdar, Tanmoy Samanta, and Yogendra Tripathi. Each artist will create one work of art, representing different styles—contemporary, modern, traditional, impressionist—while still carrying the essence oftheir own culture and history.

Mr. Sanjeev Bhargava said, "This camp feels like a heartbeat shared across borders. A gathering where artists don’t just meet, but truly see each other. It’s special because it’s messy and real: paint-stained hands, late-night stories, and the kind of laughter that bridges languages. For me, it’s about watching strangers become family through art, carrying their traditions and dreams into something new, something that lingers in your chest long after the brushes are down."

A virtual introductory session on March 25 will bring the artists together ahead of the residency. The official press conference and launch of the camp will take place in Delhi on March 29, before the camp moves to Shillong. The event will close with a ceremony featuring cultural performances and an exhibition, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs.

The masterpieces created during the camp will first be unveiled in New Delhi in a two-day showcase before making their way to Malaysia, the ASEAN Chair for 2025, for a week-long exhibition. With each edition, AIAC continues to add a new dimension to ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations, using art to build deeper cultural and regional ties.

House Of Protection Brings The Heat With New Single "Fire" Off Forthcoming EP 'Outrun You All'

March 26, 2025

LISTEN HERE

March 26th, 2025 — Continuing on their hot streak this year, House of Protection returns with yet another unrelenting single, "Fire", the second track to arrive off their anticipated sophomore EP, 'Outrun You All', due on May 23rd via Red Bull Records. Fans can stream the new single HERE and watch the music video HERE.

The song does its title justice, serving up thrashing guitars, high-pitched sirens, and emphatic lyrics fuelled by a punk spirit. On the single, the band shares, "The goal with "Fire" was to write something with as much infectious energy as possible. A song that could invoke as much dancing as it does moshing. It's a hard balance to pull off. This has been the one new song we've played on tour before its release and it's already become our favourite to jam live."

House Of Protection - "Fire" (Official Music Video)

Last month, the release of "Afterlife", the lead single from the forthcoming 'Outrun You All' EP, outperformed all previous releases, securing prime placements on Spotify's New Music Friday across key markets in Asia, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam—a significant momentum that signals growing support in the region, firmly positioning them as an act to watch in Asia. With increasing industry recognition, their influence and reach are set to expand in the months ahead.

The band featured on "Brain Dead", the lead track from Architects' #1 album, 'The Sky, The Earth, & All Between' last month, which was accompanied by an adrenaline-pumping video. Looking ahead, House of Protection will reunite with both Poppy in April on her US tour and Architects in October during their EU/UK run, sandwiching a slate of major festival plays in Europe over the summer.

Sought-after by some of the most influential collaborators across the scene, House of Protection has not so quietly become a tour de force. In less than a year as a new band, they've skyrocketed to nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify where they earned a spot on the platform's competitive 'Artists to Watch 2025' roster. Their genre-spanning debut EP, 'GALORE', has earned 10 million global streams, achieving Luminate chart positions at #14 on Current Hard Rock Albums and #15 on Alternative New Artist Albums, and made Spotify's 'Artists to Watch 2025' list. The momentum continues into this next project, at a pace that matches their boundless energy.

About House of Protection

Stephen Harrison and Aric Improta might be out of music entirely if they hadn’t discovered a new obsession in 2023—their own band. “We couldn’t be at this point in our careers and be in a band that’s not our favorite band,” Improta explains. After years of commercial and critical success in post-hardcore icons Fever 333, as well as The Chariot and Night Verses respectively, the duo had to put aside all of the striving and stress to reconnect with their first loves as House of Protection. “It’s all gotta be the things we thought were cool as kids”. Incorporating everything from Atlanta trap to UK trip-hop, post-punk and alternative, jock jams and art-rock, filmmaking and skateboarding, House of Protection’s second EP, ‘Outrun You All’, abides by the rule of “if it feels good, do it.” And then do so like your life depends on it.

After releasing their debut EP,
'GALORE', with no rules and no expectations, House of Protection are putting their skin in the game with the highly anticipated 'Outrun You All'. Quite literally, that is — the title is taken from one of Harrison’s many tattoos, a lyrical homage to Converge’s 2004 classic “Black Cloud”. 'Outrun You All' is an autonomous, bold statement as well as a “night time” companion piece to 'GALORE', a completion to an era of unbridled inspiration and creativity. Or, what the second disc of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was to its first: the darks are darker, the pretty moments are prettier, the risks are riskier.

The common denominator for all of this is an earned artistic confidence borne from the rapturous reception of
'GALORE'. Though it was hardly a surprise that House of Protection was warmly greeted by fans of Harrison and Improta’s previous bands, 'GALORE' immediately and organically attracted attention outside the realm of American hardcore. Within less than a year, House of Protection received critical raves from NME, The Guardian and Revolver and were named a Spotify Artist to Watch. The success of 'GALORE' granted House of Protection the freedom to not be experts, to chase the new and interesting over the familiar. 'Outrun You All' is filled with moments of House of Protection surprising themselves as much as the listener. “I always appreciate Quentin Tarantino saying, ‘if you’re going to write a good story, you can't know where it's going to go,” Improta notes.

Though a celebration of House of Protection’s burgeoning confidence, there’s a poignant undercurrent in its EP title that goes beyond a nod to their musical heroes.
'Outrun You All' is as much a tribute to the peers and friends who couldn’t join them on this strange and exciting new path. “We've had a lot of conversations about how hard it is to watch people with potential just give up on what they're doing,” Improta says. “I don’t think that will ever be our reality. We match each other’s enthusiasm every day and we know the best is still yet to come”. Indeed, 'Outrun You All' is the sound of Improta and Harrison catching their second wind and House of Protection just getting started.

From music hopeful to promising star: Rock Opong marks official debut with new single “Marahuyo”

March 26, 2025

The track introduces Rock Opong as a promising singer-songwriter and producer

Rock Opong is making a bold entrance into the music scene, officially debuting as recording artist who not only performs, but also writes and produces his own material.

Hailing from Iloilo City, Rock Opong’s journey has been anything but easy. Coming from humble beginnings, he spent years trying his luck to penetrate the local music industry, often facing setbacks that nearly made him give up on his dreams. Just when hope seemed to fade, fate intervened: a chance encounter with Balcony Entertainment led to his discovery, ultimately securing him a management contract and a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment.

For his first official single, the 19-year-old crooner embraces a more soulful direction on “Marahuyo,” pouring his heart into every lyric and melody of the material. Penned by Rock Opong himself, the song captures the intense emotions of longing for someone and passionately pursuing love against all odds.

“That inspired me to create a song with a similar emotional depth, one that speaks to the beauty and intensity of love,” the rising solo artist admits. “My music has always been rooted in acoustic pop, but with this song, I wanted to explore something new—modern R&B. This genre has a smoothness and depth that allows emotions to flow effortlessly, making every note feel like a reflection of love itself.”

Rock Opong produced the song with the invaluable help of Rico Blanco, whose expertise and guidance played a critical role in shaping its final sound. For the promising multi-hyphenate, the goal was clear: to deliver a simple yet captivating R&B ballad that allows raw emotions and vulnerability to shine through.

“I want to strike a perfect balance where the melody and instrumentation enhance the song’s message without overpowering it,” says the charming newcomer. “I wanted every note, every chord, and every beat to complement the lyrics in a way that makes listeners feel the depth of the song’s meaning.”

Beyond “Marahuyo” Rock Opong is actively writing new material, acknowledging that there’s so much work to be done and stories to be told. He is passionate about the creative process behind music and is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming tracks.

“My music has undergone a paradigm shift—it’s something fresh, different, and unlike anything I’ve done before,” says the talented newcomer. ‘This evolution allows me to express myself in a way that truly reflects who I am as an artist. I can’t wait to share my growth, my sound, and my story with the world.”

Rock Opong’s “Marahuyo” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch out for the music video of “Marahuyo” on Rock Opong’s official YouTube channel.

Cambodian hip-hop powerhouse VannDa unveils the second installment of his trilogy of mini-albums entitled TREYVISAI (Khmer for “The Compass”) on March 21st!

A dive into chaos, conflict, and turbulence, TREYVISAI II: Burn Like the Sun explores the darkest moments before transformation. This mini-album is fueled by stadium-ready anthems, aggressive rap bangers, and emotional heartbreak tracks – delivering everything fans love about VannDa. It also features a standout collaboration with Laotian Star Thinlamphone on "Lovesick Blue", a track that quickly became a fan favorite during early previews.

On the focus track “NO DISRESPECT” VannDa taps into his raw, untamed energy in a high-octane fusion of rap, metal, and rage music engineered for stadiums and mosh pits. Fueled by relentless flows and his signature electrifying production, it is a masterclass in controlled chaos—aggressive, unfiltered, and unapologetically bold. Once again VannDa pushes his sonic boundaries, delivering a high-voltage anthem that hits just as hard in the heart as it does physically.

“I love this song and tapping back into my rage roots. It carries a similar energy to ‘You’re Already Dead,’ which is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. This year, I’ve been really focused on expanding my sound with stadiums and large-scale concerts in mind. Traveling to global music festivals and watching my own shows grow to massive crowds has been inspiring - I want to give my fans music that makes those moments even bigger, even crazier.” - VannDa on “NO DISRESPECT”.

The trilogy kicked off on March 14th with TREYVISAI I: The Search for Light, introducing high-energy flex tracks like "Out of My Mind", "Me, My Flow, and I", and "Fishing" which have already cemented their status as fan favorites after the exclusive listening party experience in Phnom Penh on January 24th and 25th. The lead track “Smoke Up” features a collaboration with Thai rap icon YOUNGOHM, a milestone collaboration that showcases the synergy between two of Southeast Asia’s biggest hip-hop forces. The track merges their unique styles over VannDa’s signature production, reinforcing his role as a trailblazer in the region’s rap scene. Watch the official music video

Closing out the trilogy, TREYVISAI III: The Return to Sovannaphum arrives May 1st, marking VannDa’s reclamation of identity and purpose. Merging his past and future into a powerful artistic statement, this final chapter builds on the massive breakout success of global hit "
Time to Rise" while pushing the boundaries of Khmer music and hip-hop fusion. By weaving traditional Cambodian sounds with modern influences, VannDa creates a sonic time capsule - one that both honours cultural heritage and propels it forward to unchartered territory.

Ebe Dancel, Zild, Clara Benin, Reese Lansangan, Mayonnaise + more to perform at Minsan Fest

March 24, 2025

Quezon City, Philippines — Independent events production company Minsan Studio (stylized as ‘minsan studio’), gears up for the debut of their own music festival, Minsan Fest, on May 17, 2025 at Quezon City Memorial Circle.

The festival, which kicks off at 2 PM onwards, is designed specifically to be accessible for students and young fans.

The maiden edition of Minsan Fest features a dynamic lineup of both established and emerging local music acts, including The Itchyworms, Mayonnaise, Ebe Dancel, Zild, Autotelic, Reese Lansangan, Clara Benin, Autotelic, TONEEJAY, SUD, thesunmanager, and Minaw.

According to minsan studio head Jason Conanan, the event aims to provide an affordable and inclusive live music experience, particularly for students who are often the most passionate supporters of local artists.

“We have always done our best to make things accessible for the most hardcore fans, and we believe the students are the heart of that,” says Conanan. “They are the key to long-term careers for creatives, as they are the ones who actively engage with the artists and the music, share them with their friends, and once they enter the workforce, continue to support their favorites throughout their careers. We want to create an event that allows them to experience a festival of this scale without having to ask their parents for extra money.”

What sets Minsan Fest from other music festivals is its egalitarian approach to artist billing. Instead of emphasizing headliners, the festival treats all performers as equals, recognizing that each artist brings a unique fanbase and presence to the stage.

“There is no headliner because we believe every artist in our lineup has their own following,” Conanan explains. He also highlights the festival’s commitment to documentation, ensuring that performances are captured as a valuable marketing tool for bands to expand their reach and pitch for future festivals and opportunities.

In line with its commitment to accessibility and sustainability, minsan studio is launching the minsan pass, an eco-friendly digital pass available in the form of a lanyard or bag tag. The pass, priced at PHP 349 for attendees aged 24 and below and PHP 699 for adults, serves as a scannable contact card that grants entry to Minsan Fest and future events hosted by the production outfit.

“The minsan pass will act as a gateway to our future events, whether it’s a gig, workshop, concert, or possibly another music festival,” Conanan shares. “It also provides early access for updates about our upcoming shows and projects.”

Minsan Fest is organized in partnership with the Quezon City local government, with a shared commitment to producing shows with minimal environmental impact. “In line with that, we decided to launch a way for things to be a little more sustainable,” Conanan adds.

Hip-Hop R&B Artist Peter $un Releases "All That I Want" Featuring Rexx Life Raj ☀️

March 24, 2025

LISTEN HERE

March 21st, 2025 — Emerging indie hip-hop artist Peter $un (Sunny), returns with a new feel-good single, “All That I Want”, featuring rapper Rexx Life Raj, released today with Red Bull Records/Mind of a Genius. Fans can stream the song here and watch the music video here.

"All That I Want" has a fun, upbeat groove, shaped by Sunny’s DMV roots and enhanced by the West Coast vibe he picked up after moving to Los Angeles. His love for ‘90s neo-soul can also be felt in the laid-back rhythm and funky instrumentation while Rexx Life Raj adds a contagious energy in his verse, making for a smooth yet party-ready track. And while it’s easy to dance to, Sunny’s lyrics carry a quiet vulnerability—he’s got his eyes on one girl in the room and wants to make sure she knows it.

“Rondo came to me with a beat he’d made and as soon as I heard it, I knew I wanted to put a verse on it. It was just different. Rondo’s been my main collaborator as far as production goes since 2018 and he knows the styles of beats I like and how I want things to sound. Then Rexx & Pineapple Citi hopped on, and they really took it to the next level,” Sunny shares.

The single arrives with an official visualizer that captures a chill morning with Sunny and his friends on the front steps of his house. From LA to the Bay, Sunny and Rexx are setting the mood for a kick-back. With a tip jar in hand labeled “Rent $$$”, Sunny’s gearing up for a summer of hustle as he works to make ends meet while enjoying the moment.

When asked about the making of “All That I Want”, Sunny expresses, “I wanted to make something that people could have fun with, move a little, feel good. Hearing it back for the first time after everyone did their thing, it felt complete.”

Earning fans in everyone from Zane Lowe to Russ, Sunny has built a loyal following around his soulful repertoire. Last year, he released the house-inspired track “MY FAVORITE DRUG” off his summer starter EP, ‘3PIECE’. With it came his debut on SpringHill’s coveted 'On Site' YouTube series and a Red Bull Media House x Ghetto Film School short film, $unny Daze, directed by Lexx Truss.  With over 2 million+ streams across all streaming platforms, 2025 will be the year that fans can expect more new music and good vibes from Sunny.

About Peter $un

Peter $un commits all of his emotions, thoughts, and truths to tape. He never holds back. The Richmond-born and Los Angeles-based rapper, vocalist, and producer confronts his trauma, discloses his ambitions, and embraces his potential over a soundtrack of future-facing hip-hop laced with eloquent jazz-style instrumentation, filled to the brim with undeniable soul.

As a kid, $un (also known as Sunny) fell in love with music. Sunny would scour his father’s R&B-centric record collection, finding local artists like Missy Elliott, Timbaland and The Neptunes instrumental to his soulful psychedelic appeal. His mother introduced him to essential neo-soul albums like Lauryn Hill’s 1998 solo breakthrough 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill', and D’Angelo’s 'Voodoo', both of which shine through in his sound.

In high school, a friend recognized he could sing and encouraged him, so he picked up a mic. While on the come-up in his hometown, Sunny hustled his music on the underground scene and occasionally collaborated with friends on material that would be the springboard for his future projects. He soon gained traction with the 2016 mixtape,
'Paradise Is A Day Away'. Joined by producer and longtime collaborator Blue Rondo, he later unveiled 'Don’t Forget To Smile' in 2018. The project boasted “Love Drunk Lust (Make It Hard)” [feat. Trip Carter & KnottRudy], raking in 7 million Spotify streams and counting. 2021 saw him release 'Scumbaby', including fan favorites “Work” and “Sometimes” Inciting widespread tastemaker applause. OkayPlayer hailed it as “an introspective exploration of rap fused with jazz and soul” and KAZI crowned him “a creative music force”.

After generating tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Ones To Watch, Lyrical Lemonade, DJ Booth, and more, he got vulnerable on his 2022 EP,
'Phone Calls Gimme Anxiety'. The project showed a different side of Sunny as the songs reflected his grieving process from real life experiences. “I think that’s the beauty in going through something–keeping a positive mindset and still being able to have fun and enjoy the moment,” he says. Flipping the script in 2023, he delivered the upbeat EP, '3PIECE' alongside his mini documentary $unny Daze, from Red Bull Media House and Ghetto Film School. Next up, Sunny keeps the vibes high with new music on the horizon, starting with the laid-back single, “All That I Want” featuring Rexx Life Raj.

A deafening encore.

The people have spoken! Due to insistent and persistent public demand, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is extending another week in the cinemas!

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Diane Ventura, the documentary has enjoyed a pretty strong performance over the weekend, fueled by glowing reviews and enthusiastic word-of-mouth.

Ventura expressed her deep gratitude to Eheads fans for their unwavering support.

“The positive response and support have been overwhelming and humbling,” she shared. “I’m filled with so much gratitude.  I hope more people get to see the film. I hope it does for them what it did for me. This is not just a music story; it’s our story. This is for all of us.”

Originally planned for a limited release, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is a powerful exploration of how a once-disbanded group of punks came together and provided reprieve to an entire nation while, perhaps unknowingly, embarking on their own journey of healing. Featuring rare footage and never-before-seen interviews, the documentary offers a compelling look at the band’s storied history, struggles, and triumphs.

Adding to the excitement, Eraserheads themselves made a surprise appearance over the weekend, performing live during a sold-out screening at a mall in Quezon City. The legendary Pinoy rock quartet surprised an unsuspecting audience with timeless anthems from their Greatest Hits catalogue, including “Superproxy,” “Combo on the Run,” “Alapaap,” “Spoliarium,” “Pare Ko,” and “Magasin.”

Ely Buendia also visited another cinema last Sunday to thank the public for showing up to the theaters and supporting the docufilm.

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is presented by DVentPictures and WEU, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Check with your local cinemas for ticket availability and screening schedules.

David Archuleta is ready to serve his “Crème Brulée”

March 24, 2025

New single out now – here

WATCH THE “Crème Brulée” video here

LOS ANGELES, CA –Singer-songwriter David Archuleta returns with his first taste of new music and what is sure to be his most delectable pop confection of a song with his new single, “Crème Brulée.” The sweet and sexy track is the first single off of David’s upcoming EP release out this summerand was written by David, Ryan Nealon & Robyn Dell’Untoand produced by Michael Blum.

David Archuleta is stepping into a bold new era with “Crème Brulée” - a playful and irresistibly flirty pop anthem that highlights his impressive vocal range and Latin roots like never before.

David blends English and Spanish in a way that feels as smooth and addictive as the namesake dessert. “All this time I’ve been singing Spanish covers, but I’ve never had that Spanish flair in my own pop music. I wanted to get in touch with my Latin roots, have fun, be flirty, and explore the sensual side of David.”

With infectious energy and a hint of Latin flair, "Crème Brulée" is a confident, fun-loving track that showcases David’s evolution as an artist—sultry, charismatic, and completely in his element.

With smooth, dynamic vocals and a hook that sticks like caramelized sugar, David teases the listener—giving just enough to leave them wanting more. “Someone was really after me and wanted everything from me right away, but you’ve gotta work for it if you want more from me. You may have had a taste that makes you go crazy (“yo te vuelvoloco” is “I make you crazy” in Spanish), but I’m not going to give it all just yet unless you’re really worth my time and it’s worthwhile for me.”

"Crème Brulée" has all the ingredients to be a pop anthem for the year and is too irresistible to listen to just once.

The official music video for "Crème Brulée" also arrives HERE. The edgy and intricately choreographed dance video is directed by Nathan Kim, who has collaborated on projects for Charli XCX, David Guetta and Lady Gaga andfeatures David embracing his love of the art of dance with the JA Collective dance trio.  “The Crème Brulée video was so much fun to make with the choreography and a new creative release for me. I’ve always loved moving to music and so the more I’ve taken choreography/dance classes I’ve found a better outlet to feel liberated and express myself. Working with Aidan, Jordan, and Nathan Kim introduced me to a new style that was really satisfying. Dancing brings me a newfound confidence, and makes me feel like I’m more in touch with my body and sensuality,” states David.

ABOUT DAVID ARCHULETA:

Since first stepping into the pop spotlight at age 17, David Archuleta has embodied the kind of genuine star power that can’t be manufactured. After years of dazzling audiences with his radiant personality and phenomenal voice—a journey that’s included turning out multiple platinum-selling hits, achieving global acclaim as a captivating live performer, and emerging as an undeniable fixture on the pop-culture scene—the Miami-born singer/songwriter experienced a major personal transformation that radically altered his identity as an artist. As shown on his recent single “Hell Together,” Archuleta has dramatically expanded the landscape of his songwriting and devoted himself to making pop music with equal parts uncompromising emotion and exhilarating impact.

With his latest triumphs including winning the 2024 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist and landing a book deal with a HarperCollins imprint for his forthcoming memoir, Archuleta first moved toward the unfiltered truth of his new material with a revelatory writing trip to Toronto in late 2022. “It was a really magical week where I started exploring topics I’d never discussed before in my music, like falling in love with a man and leaving my faith,” says the L.A.-based artist, who came out in 2021. “In a way it was scary, but mostly it was thrilling to do what would have seemed impossible to the person I used to be. I realized I don’t have to hide who I am anymore.” Although he’d displayed a heartfelt candor on previous releases like his eighth album Therapy Sessions (a 2020 album that opened up about his struggles with anxiety), Archuleta ultimately embraced an entirely new element of unbridled creativity in the writing of songs like his euphoric 2023 single “Afraid To Love.”

While Archuleta brought a sublimely dance-ready sound to songs like “Afraid To Love” and “I’m Yours” (a 2023 single whose video earned such illustrious awards as the Best Music Video prize at the Cannes World Film Festival), “Hell Together” centers on a stripped-back and soulful form of piano-driven pop. A gospel-inspired ballad that hit the top five on iTunes the day of its premiere in March 2024, the heartrending yet triumphant track took shape after a conversation with his mother following the publication of a People magazine article in which he discussed his faith transition. “I didn’t hear from my mom for a few days after the article came out and I was worried she was upset with me, because she was very devout and always saw the church as a place of healing,” he says. “But when we finally talked my mother said that she was stepping away from the church as well. She told me, ‘I don’t want to be somewhere that my children don’t feel loved and welcomed. If you go to Hell, we’re all going to Hell with you. We’re a family and we’ll always be there for each other, in good or in bad! ’”

Not only a powerful example of his newly elevated artistry, “Hell Together” is an unprecedented showcase for the tremendous vocal talents Archuleta has cultivated since childhood. Raised in Utah from the age of six, he first fell in love with music due to the influence of his mother (a salsa singer and dancer) and father (a jazz trumpeter). By his early teens he’d begun writing songs of his own, and in 2008 he gained massive fame as the first runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol. After making his debut with his double-platinum single “Crush,” he released a steady stream of albums and built an adoring following around the world, touring in such far-flung places as Asia and the Middle East. In a truly unexpected and audacious move, Archuleta left the music business in a moment of colossal success and headed to Chile to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years—then returned with a profoundly renewed sense of purpose as he dove back into his music career.

As he continues to unlock new levels of freedom in his music and beyond, Archuleta has found an endless source of inspiration in his growing passion for dancing, raves, and festival culture. “EDM festivals and dancing have been a new way of feeling a sense of community and togetherness that I was worried I would lose,” he says. “Feeling a oneness through music and dancing is so magical and therapeutic—it’s freeing and also creative. It has encouraged me to be more fearless and to not be afraid to express myself in more creative ways.” With his recent live experience including making his musical-theater debut in 2022 as the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat—and joining the likes of Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Grammy Award-winner Victoria Monet, and Lauv for the 2023 LOVELOUD tour—Archuleta routinely brings that open-heartedness to a high-energy live show that fosters an extraordinarily close connection with the crowd. Over the past few years, he’s also deepened his relationship with his fanbase by bringing his effortless charisma and disarmingly warm presence to social media platforms like TikTok, where he’s now spurred numerous viral videos with millions of views.

Naming such eclectic artists as Tracy Chapman, indie-pop singer/songwriter Maddie Zahm, and Nigerian musician Tems among his current inspirations, Archuleta is continuing to unveil more of his inner life in his songwriting. With more new music due out soon, he notes that uncovering his most authentic voice has involved finding self-assurance in unexpected places. “Growing up in the church, I was taught to stand up for my beliefs and share them with the world, which is exactly what I’m trying to do with my music,” he says. “Even though I stand for something else now, I still have that same level of conviction in what I do. I believe in being bold in my vulnerability and speaking the truth of who I am, so that hopefully people can come away from my songs feeling like they understand themselves, or others, or just life in general a little better than they did before.”

Rising Filipino artists Tiara Shaye and Fana took home the coveted “Grand Champion” title at the PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival, held at the New Frontier Theater on Saturday evening.

Their winning entry, “Wag Paglaruan,”captivated the jury with its enduring songwriting appeal and contemporary artistry, standing out among the twelve finalists from the top Philippinesongwriting competition. Tiara Shaye composed the award-winning piece, with both herself and Fana delivering a soulful take that further elevated the song’s crossover potential.

The competition also recognized other outstanding compositions. The Cebuano-penned track “Buhi,” composed by Keith John Quito and interpreted by Ferdinand Aragon, secured the first runner-up position, while the emotional ballad “Papahiram,” won second runner-up. Written by Rinz Ruiz and performed by acclaimed singer-songwriters Moira and JohnoyDanao, the song resonated deeply with both judges and audiences.

Other notable winners include “Kurba,” composed by Sunkissed Lola’s Alvin Serito and interpreted by chart-toppingpop icon Maki.” The song received Smart People’s Choice Award and MYX Choice Award for Best Music Video. With nearly eight million streams on Spotify, it emerged as the most-streamed track in the competition.

Entries were evaluated based on artistic merit, composition, and originality. Jonathan Manalo, AVP/Creative Director of ABS-CBN Music explains, “The judges also evaluate a song’s uniqueness and its ability to stand out amongst the rest. This is usually seen in how the concept or the story is executed in a song or in the way the song was composed or arranged. Since it is also a pop songwriting contest, we also have to factor in a song’s relatability and appeal to the audience, especially with the younger fans.”

PhilPop Board Member and National Artist Ryan Cayabyabechoed this sentiment, praising the winners for embracing the modern sound of Filipino music and identifying with the younger fans. “We think these PhilPop Himig Handog songs standout not just because of excellent songwriting and composition, but also because of their ability to relate to the stories of the Filipino audience.”

Among this year’s roster of esteemed jury include Noel Cabangon, Jungee Marcelo, Trina Belamide, Nica del Rosario, Bret Jackson, Maribel Hernaez, and Yumi Lacsamana—a formidable team composed of multi-awarded composers, industry professionals, and music media executives.

PhilPop Himig Handog Songwriting Festival marks the first-ever collaboration between two of the country’s most prominent songwriting institutions. The collaborative venture between PhilPop and Himig Handog kicked off with an intensive two-month songwriting camp, culminating into the selection of the top 12 finalists who advanced to the main event.

PhilPop Executive Director, Dinah Remolacio, emphasized the festival’s significance in shaping the future of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), especially as it coincides with the movement’s  50th anniversary celebration. “The PhilPop HimigHandog Songwriting Festival’s goal was always to promote the excellence of Filipino songwriters and to push the possibilities of what Filipino music can be. We believe this is how we continue to celebrate the 50 years of OPM and how we continue to evolve the craft that makes us proud as Filipinos.”

While the finals night marked the culmination of the competition, the journey for these songs and their creators are far from over. According to Manalo, both PhilPop and Himig Handog are committed to providing ongoing support, which would eventually open doors to future opportunities for the finalists.

Even if the finals night is finished, he firmly stressed that they will continue to promote these songs because they represent the excellence of Filipino songwriting and music. “We can also expect the winners to become potential speakers and mentors for future songwriting camps so that they can share their story and their advice to other aspiring songwriters who would want to join our songwriting festivals in the future,” Manalo added.

The Eraserheads have set the stage for something big.

Fans who have stayed until the end credits for Eraserheads: Combo On The Run film were treated to an electrifying surprise: an announcement of an upcoming concert that promises to be even bigger than their last one.

Aptly titled ERASERHEADS: ELECTRIC FUN MUSIC FESTIVAL, the outdoor event will take place at SMDC Festival Grounds in Pasay City on May 31, 2025. While details remain under wraps, early bird tickets will go on sale exclusively via PalawanPay starting March 24, 2025.

Adding fuel to the excitement, the band also teased a brand-new song in the end credits, sparking speculation about an upcoming release in the future. If confirmed, this would mark the Eraserheads’ first new material in over a decade, following 2014’s “Sabado” and “1995,” which were later reissued on limited-edition vinyl with exclusive remixes in 2021.

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run will be screening in more than 150 cinemas nationwide and has already received glowing reviews from early screenings. Rappler called it “pure nostalgia juice that no fan can resist” in their spoiler-free review of the film, while GMA News spoke fondly of the material, calling it a “history lesson on an important chapter of Pinoy pop culture.”

Directed by Diane Ventura, the docu-film offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at one of the most influential bands in OPM history.

As if the surprises are not enough, the Eraserheads will also be making a live, surprise performance at an undisclosed cinema during the documentary’s theatrical run, from March 21 to 23, 2025. Fans can also catch them at the launch of Rolling Stone Philippines LIVE! on March 21, 2025, where they’ll grace one of the three covers of its maiden issue.

With a major concert, potential new music, and a groundbreaking documentary, 2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Eheads fans. Stay tuned for more details.

ena mori’s New Track “Funny” Is No Laughing Matter

March 21, 2025

MANILA, PHILIPPINES—Japanese-Filipino indie pop hitmaker, ena mori releases new single, “Funny”, encapsulates female rage and the power of girlhood friendships.

Although official release is on March 21, Ena Matsuri (a rave-like gig organized by ena mori’s record label, Offshore Music) attendees got first dibs on “Funny” when she performed the unreleased track to a room full of fans back in 2024. And in the same year, the “Vivid” singer showcased the song on the globally renowned stage of the music festival, Clockenflap. The track was received massively well by a crowd of music-lovers, most of whom just discovered the eclectic indie artist right then and there.

When asked about her reasons for the creation of “Funny”, ena stated that a news report about banning ponytails in Japan for a seemingly “odd” reason caused her to create such a sarcastically-toned, almost rage-fueled track. “I want the listener to feel empowered like they can take on anything,” Ena shared. “I want them to feel energetic and ready to jump into action, full of excitement.”

In “Funny”, ena mori highlights the power of an all-female friendship. How supporting each other against oppressive rules enforced by biased notions in society could greatly make an impact to shake up the system that normalized it. The singer expanded on this by sharing how the song’s instrumentation carries a noticeable grungy, punk beat and synths to signify assertion, amplifying the intense message of the song. “There’s a sense of aggression too — not in a negative way, but in the drive to push forward,” ena stated.

The release of “Funny” marks as ena mori’s first release for 2025.
