Google, Ben&Ben release Mag-ingat music video to promote internet safety
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, February 8, 2022āGoogle, together with Filipino folk pop band Ben&Ben launches a new song to promote internet safety and digital responsibility. Entitled āMag-Ingatā (Be Safe Online), the song is part of Googleās commitment to helping Filipinos use the internet safely and responsibly.
The two-and-a-half minute Filipino song addresses online threats today including scams, misinformation, and catfishing, and the importance of critical thinking and verifying information using trusted sources to protect oneself and others. It also reminds netizens to be wary of bad actors who lurk in the online space, just like in the real world.
This newest single from the young band ends strongly with a bridge conveying that online safety is a shared responsibilityāpeople are all stewards of the digital world. Itās all in the hands of netizens to use the internet right and care for the online safety of one another.
The catchy and lively tune was written and performed by Ben&Ben, the Philippinesā #1 local artist of 2021. The award-winning nine-piece act is known for mixing Filipino folk music with pop to create songs about hope, love, and positivity.
āFilipinos are highly social people and most of us interact with one another digitally. In such a world, itās no wonder that while the internet brings so many advantages, it also opens us up to many dangers if we are not careful enough. With āMag-ingat,ā we wanted to use our music to spread awareness on such a timely and important issueābecause all of us are responsible for making sure that the internet is a safe and positive space for everyone,ā said Miguel Benjamin of Ben&Ben.
āInternet safety is so important to Google. Beyond tools, products, and policies that enable us to help people stay safe online, we deepen our local partnerships to promote digital responsibility. By partnering with Ben&Ben and through their music, we believe that we can teach internet safety to more people in a way that deeply resonates with and becomes part of their everyday lives,ā said Mervin Wenke, Head of Communications and Public Affairs, Google Philippines.
Googleās holistic approach to digital responsibility is helping millions of people to stay safe in the online space. Aside from security measures including the two-step verification process, and security and password checkups, it also introduced programs such as Be Internet Awesome with the Department of Education, and supported NGO campaigns like the Cyberpeace initiative of Teach Peace Build Peace Movement.
āWe thank Google for being a steadfast partner in promoting and upholding the digital safety of Filipinos, and Ben&Ben for creating an anthem that will remind every Filipino who listens to it to āmag-ingatā and take steps into becoming responsible netizens,ā said Atty. John Henry Naga, National Privacy Commissioner.

Itās 2022, and yet these questions are still commonly asked to me by both restaurant staff and people I know. I am aware that I should not take these queries personally, but it still fills me with wonder how dining alone as a solo lady in Manila can be a crucial judgment point.
So, in the year of Our Lord 2022, let me dine alone.
I am an only child who grew up with pretty solid opinions about the food that I liked. I enjoyed being a foodie from the get-go. I found it amusing to be asked why I was dining alone when I was younger, to which I would reply, āI am alone, thank you.ā
But as I grew up and had more years of experience as a solo diner, I realized that I was seen as a social liability. Others looked at me with pity, as if I could not attract a man. There were those who asked me where my boyfriend was, and when I got older, where my husband was. Still, there were others who asked me if I was expecting anyone for business. I always had the same answer: āI am alone, thank you.ā
I currently have a partner who also enjoys dining alone. He grew up with siblings, but he learned to enjoy his own company due to the demands of work. I found a kindred spirit in him, and our relationship remains to be a work in progress. Naturally, there are more days when I dine without him, and that is fine. I have a book, a bunch of playlists and podcasts to entertain me, and the occasional crochet project to keep my hands busy while my order is being prepared. I am alone, but not lonely.
Sure, we wear masks now to protect ourselves during a pandemic which has transcended all our expectations and perceived possibilities. But would you believe that I still get asked why I dine alone? I still reply that āI am alone, thank you.ā And a global pandemic will not drive me to seek the company of others when I am perfectly fine eating alone.
Why do women like me have to answer so many questions when we choose to dine alone? We can afford to do so. We enjoy eating alone. We have people in our lives to dine with, but the pleasure of dining alone is incomparable.
There is no match to the peace that comes with people watching. There is the calming effect of planning my week ahead while savoring some pasta. There is the joy of sipping my coffee alone while writing in a notebook. There is the efficiency of replying to my emails as I wait for my bill to arrive. All of these can be done by myself, and the meals that I enjoy while simply being me are just a controllable variable in my frequent experiments with solo dining in Manila.
Abroad, I observed that I am not judged whenever I eat alone. The few times I did so was fun. People simply minded their own business. I was able to eat in peace. I was able to avoid saying, āI am alone, thank you.ā
Dining alone makes me say, āthank you, I am alone.ā
Because I owe it to myself that I am strong enough to dine alone in a society that questions that simple act. I am liberated by my skill to enjoy my own company and order my own food. I am my best self whenever I dine alone. I am able to share myself to the people and things that I care about more because I get to enjoy dining alone.
It is 2022. I am thankful for the gift of life, and the happiness behind enjoying my favorite food. Let me dine alone.
I hope that you will also try it soon.

Put a quick stop to sore throat, Agap Agad With Bactidol
Staying healthy is very important these days, especially as we continue to deal with uncertainties in the new normal. Taking care of oneself usually means eating a balanced diet accompanied by regular exercise, but it should also include taking immediate action when common ailments occur. There has been an increasing number of sore throat incidences since the start of the year, and it shouldnāt be taken lightly knowing sore throat can progress from mild to severe without proper treatment.
Sore throat is one of those illnesses that can strike when people least expect it, and is mostly the result of a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. It may also be an indication of a bacterial infection like strep throat or tonsillitis. Depending on the root, a sore throat can cause a scratchy feeling in the throat, pain that worsens when talking or swallowing, and hoarseness of voice. A red flag is that sore throat can also lead to complications such as kidney inflammation, rheumatic fever, and meningitis if left untreated.
The good news is there are surefire ways to eliminate a sore throat at the onset. One of the most effective methods is to gargle with a medicated mouthwash such as Hexetidine BactidolĀ®, which has been proven to work in as fast as 30 seconds and protects for up to 12 hours against sore throat-causing viruses.
āBactidolĀ® Gargleās effectiveness against sore throat has made it the number one sore throat gargle brand in the country,ā said Chili Perez, senior brand manager forBactidolĀ® Philippines. āUsing it at the first sign of sore throat will help provide immediate relief and protection against sore throat-causing viruses.ā
For those with an on-the-go lifestyle, there is Bactidol®Lozenges which are convenient to take, easy to carry around, and effective in killing sore throat-causing viruses.
āWith BactidolĀ® Gargle and Lozenges, itās easy to keep sore throat at bay and help prevent it from getting worse,ā added Perez. āSa unang kati pa lang, agap agad with BactidolĀ®.ā

Halik Ni Gringo returns with pandemic-themed rock anthem āHOME ALONEā
Alt-metal band Halik Ni Gringo unveils āHOME ALONE,āits latest release since 2021's āInjustice For All.ā
āHOME ALONEā explores themes of social deprivation and paranoia during the pandemic as the world faces another surge in COVID infections brought about by the latest Omicron variant.
"It's 2022 but it still feels like 2020," says frontman Joey Santos. "We've made huge strides as regards medicine and treating COVID, but progress in The Philippines continues to lag behind our Asian neighbors. The lyrics came quick - I felt like they've been swimming in my head the whole time under lockdown. All I needed to do was fish them out and put pen to paper."
The track is a taste of the group's upcoming 2022 full-length album under floppydisks which includes previous singles Injustice āFor Allā and āMr Big Data.ā As with past releases, the LP is still a part of the group's ongoing #2stDebutAlbum effort - now on its 5th year, having started back in 2017.
āHome Aloneā is produced by DJ Joey Santos, and was written and arranged by Joaquin Acosta and DJ Joey Santos. It's mixed and mastered by DJ Joey Santos at Love One Another Sound Production.

TECNO devotes itself into a more inclusive camera technology to create a world with more understanding and connections
February 3, 2022 ā TECNO, a premium smartphone brand focused on emerging markets, recently partnered with BBC StoryWorks to create a short film The Future Lens: Looking Ahead With TECNO to explore how mobile camera lens provides inclusive mobile camera technologies to local consumers.
āCameras have evolved over the years, but unfortunately, it feels like the technology isn't created with everyone in mind. As a photographer, I think one of the most intimate things you can do is take a portrait of someone that accurately portrays who they are.ā according to photographer, Justin Amoafo.
This is where TECNO comes into the picture. TECNO envisions a world where inclusive phone design can help form communities, connect people with one another and ensure no one is left behind. In the film, TECNO illustrates why portrait imaging is its most ground-breaking technology and how it has empowered users of dark skin tones to realize all possibilities of expression.
Based on innovations that can significantly increase light intake, and an enormous database that covers 7 skin types across 76 skin categories, TECNO has made a significant impact in resolving the technical challenges regarding exposure, colors, and hues in portrait photography. Meanwhile, in TECNO TAIVOS Camera Lab, more than 3,000 local samples with approximately 6,120 evaluation scenarios spanning 115 countries enable the camera lab team possible to focus on the localized ethnic research, social aesthetic ideology and aesthetic preference research, so as tomake the experience of product image effect direction conform to the localized trends. All these innovations bring users technology that they do not have to adapt to, but that instead accommodates for them.
āThe future Lens is the world without limit. Technology should include everyone and let us to be our true selves, instead of being depicted through a subjective lens . I believe that it should be the mission of humans to create the technology that is more understanding and inclusive of all of us.ā said Li Jiangtao, Senior Director of TECNO Imaging Product and head of TECNO TAIVOS⢠Camera Lab.
As a rising innovator in mobile camera technology, TECNO devotes itself through an inclusive and emerging market-specific approach to bringing its āFuture Lensā camera concept to consumers.
The brandās continuous innovations, its initiatives to develop cameras that function at a professional level, and the impact of these efforts on progressive young consumers have encapsulated its brand essence of āStop At Nothingā and the inclusive future they want to create.
