NIKI’s third studio album, Buzz, released on August 9 via 88rising, captures the feeling of being on the precipice of discovery across thirteen introspective tracks. It includes fan-favorites such as the summer anthem “Tsunami”, the astrologically-inspired “Blue Moon”, the playful lead single “Too Much of a Good Thing”, the bittersweet title track “Buzz”, and the emotionally raw “Did You Like Her In The Morning?”.

In Buzz, NIKI’s songwriting remains as intimate as ever, inspired by lane-paving female artists like Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Carly Simon and Liz Phair, of whom influenced her confessional, honest lyrics and guitar-driven sound. To capture the album’s exploratory spirit, she tapped producers Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham, Sara Bareilles) and Ethan Gruska (Fiona Apple, Phoebe Bridgers) as collaborators, who helped bring a new depth to her creative and personal sea change.

For NIKI, things have been happening progressively since she was a high schooler in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she penned lovesick poems in English class and performed acoustic guitar covers of American pop songs on YouTube. With a six-string in hand, and her family and classmates cheering her on from the audience, Nicole Zefanya then staked her claim to global stardom as NIKI.

With over three billion streams worldwide, sold out shows on multiple continents, massive sets at festivals across the globe, front row seats at Paris Fashion Week, four songs on a Marvel film’s soundtrack, and some of the most phenomenal, confessional songs being released in 2024, NIKI has established an impressive career before turning 25.

‘Knock2 nolimit TOUR’ tickets are on sale now

Prodigious electronic music producer Knock2 has teamed up with trap pioneer RL Grimefor “come aliv3,” the third single from Knock2’s forthcoming debut LP, nolimit. The San Diego-native will celebrate the album release with an historic, global ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ (press release), which will see the artist visionary stop through cities like New York, Sydney, Chicago, Toronto, Denver, Austin, Vancouver, and Perth, with additional dates already added after selling 25k+ tickets instantly during the initial pre-sale.

WATCH THE TEASER HERE

“come aliv3” represents the final 2024 release for Knock2, who is wrapping up his biggest year yet. At only 25-years-old, the young producer has spent the past half-decade expanding his international presence with ubiquitous hit records like “dashstar*” and “Rock Ur World” (which have amassed a combined 100 million+ streams across platforms). In 2024, Knock2 has continued his unceasing momentum with solo performances at festivals such as Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, in addition to nurturing his collaborative duo ISOKNOCK (ISOxo + Knock2), who surprise dropped their debut album 4EVR while taking the stages at Coachella, ULTRA Japan, and North Coast Music Festival (performing from a suspended shipping container).

Photo cred: Evers Pund (@ev.ers)

Now, after releasing two anthemic LP singles “feel U luv me” (press release) and “hold my hand” (press release), Knock2 is further establishing nolimit’s sonic ethos with the RL Grime collaboration “come aliv3”: a track that revitalizes vintage, early 2010s electronic music aesthetics within a fully singular, contemporary context.

"come aliv3" - an electric blend of progressive sounds with house and trap elements - represents another exciting chapter in Knock2 and RL Grime's long-standing history. The veteran trap legend has been a champion of Knock2 for years, having released some of the young artist's earliest releases on his Sable Valley imprint and taken him on Sable Valley tours. Their creative partnership culminated this year with their historic, headlining b2b at Ultra Music Festival 2024 and recent b2b at SILO Dallas last month, as well as their collaboration on the ISOKNOCK track "Smack Talk" - one of the biggest festival trap anthems of the year.

RL GRIME B2B KNOCK2 LIVE AT ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL MIAMI 2024

RL Grime first came to prominence in the early 2010s, delivering massive remixes ofChief Keef’s “Love Sosa” and Kanye West’s “Mercy.” In 2014, he released his #1 electronic album VOID and became a staple at the largest festivals across the world - just a few of many accolades that solidified the producer/DJ as one of the defining electronic voices of his generation. Now, following the release of his 2023 LP PLAY, RL Grime is affirming his unparalleled ear for talent through his continued support and collaborations with rising superstar Knock2, further evidenced by the sonic innovation on “come aliv3.”

Featuring singer Abi Flynn, “come aliv3” kicks off with soaring vocals floating over an emotional, heart-raising buildup before introducing blazing, festival-ready synth chord progressions. The track then drops into Knock2’s signature, thumping house sound - a cathartic mix of pounding kick drums and syncopated, distorted bass tones that transforms the song’s euphoric nostalgia into blistering, forward-thinking catharsis. “come aliv3” then culminates with a section of explosive trap madness - a showcase of incendiary production that acts as a grandiose climax to this crowd-pleasing banger.

Fans will be able to hear “come aliv3” and other tracks off of nolimit once the ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ kicks off in Vancouver, British Columbia in February 2025. Featuring brand new stage production titled “The Stack,” ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ will see Knock2 take center stage at acclaimed venues such as Terminal 5 in New York City, Mission Ballroomin Denver, Radius in Chicago, and many more - providing fans with a live experience that reflects the bold spirit of the nolimit era. With a sonic and visual palette that evokes the renegade, DIY spaces from which Knock2 cut his teeth, the creative ethos for the upcoming LP and corresponding tour will reflect the boundary-pushing artist’s ability to shatter conventions and empower fans to embrace their true selves.

Sponge Cola shares the other side of the story in new track “Kelly (Sagittarius)”

December 7, 2024

The alt-rock piece serves as a response to “Kelly (Scorpio),” released last month

Filipino alt-rock band Sponge Cola continues to explore the complexities of heartbreak with the release of “Kelly (Sagittarius),” an emotionally charged pop-rock track that offers a different perspective on the aftermath of a painful breakup.

Serving as the fiery counterpart to last month’s melancholic “Kelly (Scorpio),” the new single completes a compelling two-part series, delving deep into the subjective nature of truth and emotion.

The dual tracks—“Kelly (Scorpio)” and “Kelly (Sagittarius)”—form a unique digital bundle that captures two distinct emotional responses to the same heartache. While “Scorpio” conveys a sense of defeat and resignation, “Sagittarius” presents a more hostile and confrontational take to a traumatic experience.

The band's vocalist and guitarist Yael Yuzon explains, "If you look at it from just one person's perspective, delivery plays a huge part in a message, even when you use the same words. While the Scorpio version sounds a bit more defeated, Sagittarius sounds more hostile. If you look at it as a response to the other, like a conversation, you can see how truth can sometimes be subjective. It's a 'he said, she said thing' kind of thing, and even with the same words, the truth is still unfathomably vague. There's a tendency to believe only one narrative, then totally shut the other out. But there's always two sides to every story, sometimes even more. People are quick to take sides and judge.”

“Kelly (Sagittarius)” navigates a wide spectrum of emotions in the aftermath of a breakup—surrender, yearning, regret, anger, and frustration—perfectly capturing the intensity of heartache. The song was inspired by a vivid dream Yuzon couldn’t shake off, eventually leading him to write the track in its entirety.

He notes that the bridge, which features the line “Ang siyang pumirma, ang siyang sumumpa…” (roughly translated as “The one who signed, the one who swore…”), represents a rare moment of clarity within the otherwise dream-like atmosphere of the song.

“I wrote that line as the most concrete part of the song, making it more grounded and lucid compared to the rest of the track,” says Yuzon. “I mean, come on, it talks about paperwork.”

Lead guitarist Armo Armovit reflects on the creative process behind the song, emphasizing the band’s commitment to emotional authenticity in their music. “We’re always experimenting with different elements, but we never lose sight of what works best in communicating the song’s core message,” Armovit admits. “Sometimes we let go of expectations and let the music take us where it wants to go—even if it leads us down two separate paths.”

“Kelly (Sagittarius)” showcases Sponge Cola’s signature sound—a potent blend of alt-rock guitar riffs and introspective lyrics, creating an impactful listening experience that resonates with fans old and new.

Alex Bruce and Zae celebrates women in hip-hop on joint track “A to Z (Drop It)”

December 7, 2024

The official music video also features fellow rapper IllestMorena

Two of Filipino hip-hop’s promising stars, Alex Bruce and Zae, turn up the heat with the release of their collaborative single “A to Z (Drop It)”—out today via Sony Music Entertainment.

The fun, upbeat track marks a pivotal moment for both artists as they navigate a new chapter in their career, with Bruce preparing to turn 18 soon and Zae dropping her second track as an artist under AWAL. Together, they deliver another catchy R&B/hip-hop jam that embodies confidence, self-expression and femininity.

More than just a banger, the track is a declaration of empowerment. Featuring bold, sassy, and unapologetic vibes, “A to Z (Drop It)” is about “embracing who you are and owning your space,” shares Alex Bruce.

The collaboration exudes a natural chemistry between Bruce and Zae, two artists who hit it off instantly despite the material being their first joint. The song showcases the best of both worlds, blending their strengths and perspectives in one compelling package.

“Working with Zae brought a fire that matched mine, and together we created something that’s pure sassy, classy, nasty vibes,” says Alex Bruce. “This is us stepping up ourgame.”

Championing women in hip-hop

The song is a testament to the power of female solidarity in a genre often dominated by men. In the music video, the presence of strong women in Pinoy hip-hop is emphasized, including a special appearance by one of the heavy-hitting rookies in the game: Illest Morena. Inspired by the iconic dance movie, Step Up (2010), the music video revolves around the concept that women should be celebrated, and not pitted against each other.

“We’re not just here for the spotlight; we’re here to uplift each other and make sure our voices are heard,” shares Bruce. “In a space where women are often overlooked, we’re showing that we’ve got each other’s backs. Together, we rise and create a powerful statement of unity and respect.”

The music video was helmed by Louie Ong, a two-time MYX Music Award nominee. He brought the concept to life with dynamic cinematography and high-energy visuals, further enhancing its message.

The track also represents a breakthrough for both acts as they continue to challenge expectations and barriers in the Pinoy hip-hop scene. For Alex and Zae, this release is a declaration of their rightful place in a culture that is often slow to recognize women as key players.

“Women are often told to fit into certain expectations, especially in hip-hop,” says Zae. “With this song, we wanted to show that we’re more than just our image.”

“A to Z (Drop It)” is produced by Markbeats, a prominent urban producer who played a significant role in shaping the track’s overall sound and arrangement.

“He has always been a solid collaborator,” reveals Bruce. “He brought the energy we needed. His production really amplified the potential of the song and turn it into an anthem that hits hard.”

Alex Bruce and Zae’s “A to Z (Drop It)” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch out for the music video to be released at 7:00 pm on her official YouTube channel.

The Itchyworms return to Japan for another leg of ‘Akin Ka Na Lang’ tour

December 5, 2024

Manila, Philippines – December 5, 2024 — Award-winning Filipino band The Itchyworms are set to return to Japan for another run of their critically acclaimed Akin Ka Na Lang… Japan! Tour in early 2025.

Following the success of their 2023 tour, the band will perform three shows from January 17 to 19, 2025, on iconic venues across Tokyo, including Mr. Back in Saitama, Heaven’s Door in Sangenjaya, and Gamuso in Asagaya.

“We’ve been fortunate to build a loyal fanbase in Japan over the years,” says Jugs Jugueta, lead vocalist of The Itchyworms. “It’s truly humbling to see fans traveling hours from all over Japan just to watch us perform. What makes the Japanese audience so special is their deep appreciation not only for our hits but also for the more obscure tracks. To them, it’s all good music.”

The Itchyworms, known for their blend of rock, pop, and humor, have long cultivated an international following. For this upcoming tour, the band promises a fresh setlist that includes more English-language songs from their early catalog, along with some unexpected surprises. “We used to have a lot of songs in English when we were starting out, and we also experimented with odd time signatures. We’re bringing some of those songs back for this tour, and I’m excited to see how the Japanese audience responds to this experiment,” says Jugueta.

Drummer and co-lead vocalist Jazz Nicolas also shares his admiration for the Japanese fans, noting that despite language barriers, music remains a universal connector. “Even if the audience doesn’t understand every word, the connection is still there,” he says. “It’s the music that binds us.”

Nicolas also reflects on a memorable moment from a previous Japan tour. “One time, I decided to surprise my bandmates by crawling on the floor and making weird noises behind a wall, just to startle them. To my surprise, it wasn’t my bandmates who walked in—it was the venue owner. He just smiled and said, ‘Aha! Crawling on the ground. Itchyworms.’ That moment has stayed with me ever since.”

Next year, The Itchyworms are set to expand their reach even further with more venues abroad. In addition to their Japanese dates, the band is planning tours in Europe, with a special focus on the UK, and new dates in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

With a career spanning over two decades, The Itchyworms continue to resonate with fans around the world, cementing their place as one of the Philippines’ most beloved musical exports.

The Itchyworms’ Akin Ka Na Lang… Japan! Tour 2025 dates:

• January 17, 2025 - Mr. Back, Saitama

• January 18, 2025 - Heaven’s Door, Sangenjaya

• January 19, 2025 - Gamuso, Asagaya

KAIA, Subsonic Eye, Milledenials, Shaan & More Showcase Music Excellence & Regional Bonds at ASEAN India Music Festival 2024

December 4, 2024

The 3-day celebration of music and culture marked a momentous celebration of India’s ‘Act East Policy,’ including Indian music champions Raghu Dixit, Shaan, and 7 of Southeast Asia’s most exciting acts

New Delhi, 4th December 2024 — ASEAN-India Music Festival (AIMF) concludes its biggest and most expansive edition held from November 29 to December 1, at the renowned Purana Qila in New Delhi, India, which offered free entry to all. Organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Seher, the festival celebrates a decade of India’s ‘Act East Policy’, a comprehensive strategic partnership between India and ASEAN countries.

Drawing thousands of music lovers over three days, ASEAN-India Music Festival was a stunning tribute to music and its power to unite people from different cultures, and a display of world-class talent, which Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Pabitra Margherita, who inaugurated the event on its opening day as the Chief Guest, put succinctly, “ASEAN India Music Festival 2024 has shown how melodies can dissolve boundaries and foster connections that go beyond geography. Over these three days, we’ve celebrated not just the rhythm of instruments but the heartbeat of two regions bound by shared history and aspirations. The energy here at Purana Qila is a reminder that when art speaks, it unites us in ways words alone cannot. It has been an honor to witness this beautiful symphony of cultures.”

The third AIMF opened in grand style featuring captivating performances by India’s music icons Shaan and Raghu Dixitalongside ASEAN talents such as CHET Kanhchna(Cambodia), MRTV (Myanmar), and Buc Tuong (Viet Nam).

Day 2 delivered more electrifying performances on a global music stage, as India’s sensational pop duo Sukriti-Prakriti and indie pop-rock heroes Western Ghats brought dynamic energy to the ancient grounds of Purana Qila, while ASEAN artists like Floor 88 (Malaysia), Television Off (Thailand), and Tropical Hornbills (Brunei) proudly represented their vibrant cultures to the audience.

The final day saw award-winning singer-songwriter Jasleen Royal captivate the huge crowds with her performance. They were further treated to more remarkable acts from ASEAN, such as Subsonic Eye (Singapore), who delivered ethereal indie pop, while Milledenials (Indonesia) turned up the tempo with their infectious energy. TAIY AKARD (Lao PDR) and KAIA(Philippines) rounded up the incredible night, with their high-powered sets to conclude the 2024 edition of ASEAN-India Music Festival.

The festival was not only an occasion to hear great music, but it also played a vital role in connecting people from different backgrounds, Shaan—the “Golden Voice of India”—reflected, “Music is the heartbeat of humanity, and this festival showed us just how powerful that connection can be… sharing a stage with artists from ASEAN and feeling the audience's energy was surreal. Music really is a universal language, and tonight proved that beyond a doubt.”

Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. PabitraMargherita, inaugurated the event, highlighting the festival’s role in strengthening ASEAN-India ties through shared cultural bonds. He remarked, “This highlights the cultural bonds we’ve forged over the years. It’s a celebration of how music transcends borders, deepening our connections and strengthening the ties that unite ASEAN and India in our shared journey of growth.”

Sanjeev Bhargava, Director of Seher, echoed the sentiment, describing the event as “[representation] of the connections that grow from shared experiences, the relationships built over time, and the new ones that music helps create. By coming together to celebrate, we are fostering understanding and enriching the ties that bind our cultures."
