Rampa Manila 2: Celebrating Filipino Fashion Innovation in the Heart of Manila City
Manila City reaffirms its status as the Philippines' fashion hub with the highly anticipated return of Rampa Manila 2. Themed "Textile, Texture, and Technique," this event promises to spotlight the profound influences of Divisoria Marketplace on Filipino fashion. Spearheaded by Mayor Sheila "Honey" Lacuna, Rampa Manila 2 is a testament to the city's commitment to celebrating and promoting local talent.
Mayor Lacuna emphasized the importance of utilizing Manila-sourced materials, urging both seasoned veterans and emerging designers to innovate and elevate Filipino fashion. She stated, "Layunin nating itaas ang industriya ng pananamitsa Maynila at iwagayway ang bandera ng kalidad at husay ng industriyang ito." This sentiment underscores the event's mission to showcase the best of Filipino creativity and craftsmanship.
Rampa Manila 2 boasts a stellar lineup of designers. Expect to see established names like Anthony Ramirez, Neric Beltran, Val Taguba, Marc Rancy, and Jhobes Estrella alongside rising talents Morissette Magalona, Dhenyze Guevara, and Joanna Santos.
Before flaunting their dazzling collections on the main stage of Rampa, the designers ruminated on the influences of both Manila and Divisoria on their respective careers.
Notable Filipino fashion designer Neric Beltran shared, “Manila plays an important role in any designer’s career because we source our fabrics locally, especially from Divisoria. I would like to think that most, if not all, of us like to source from Divisoria, that’s why I think these places are very important.” Self-made fashion icon and designer Anthony Ramirez shared the same sentiments. He recalled his go-to area in Divisoria back when he was a budding designer, a street widely known in the fashion community, “There’s a street there called Palakpak, which exists to this day. If you’re a young designer building your collection, Palakpak should be your go-to because everything there is affordable,” said Ramirez.
Reflecting on the event's significance, designers shared their experiences with Divisoria, highlighting its role in their creative journeys. From sourcing fabrics to finding inspiration, Divisoria has been instrumental in shaping their careers.
Rampa Manila 2 not only celebrates Filipino culture and talent but also pays homage to the city of Manila and its vibrant marketplace. It serves as a platform to showcase Manila's rich history and exceptional materials, reinforcing its position as the country's fashion capital. Get ready to witness the intersection of tradition and innovation on June 19th at Bulwagang Rodriguez as Rampa Manila 2 takes center stage.

Breakout artist Dhruv announces release of debut album, Private Blizzard
New song “Speed of Light” out now!
Private Blizzard, the debut album from breakout vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dhruv, is slated for release August 23 via Little Worry/RCA Records.
Recorded in Nashville with Grammy-nominated producer JT Daly(Noah Kahan, Bully, Benson Boone), Private Blizzard reflects the full range of emotions Dhruv felt as he set out to make his debut album from a place of creative honesty. “I started in a place of numbness, and I didn’t really understand why I felt that way,” Dhruv shares. “The songs that I started out with were trying to help me unpack that feeling. The further along I got, I started feeling better—I just felt lighter.”
Allowing intuition to guide him more than in the past, Dhruv focused on developing his vocal range to give himself a larger canvas to express his changing emotions. From a sonic perspective, he and Daly worked together to arrive at a sound that incorporates classic live elements while retaining a modern feel. The result is an album that, above all else, feels true to Dhruv.
Aside from the announcement of the upcoming album release, Dhruv has also debuted a “Speed of Light,” a new song from his forthcoming album. “‘Speed of Light’ is about this ‘limbo state’ of being heartbroken over someone who clearly had no trouble moving on from the relationship,” Dhruv shares.
“Speed of Light” follows previous album offerings “How?” and “Tragedy,” Dhruv’s first new music of 2024 which he performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for his late night T.V. debut in February. Additionally, Dhruv performed a sold-out headline show at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre last night, following a sold-out headline show in London and a performance at New York’s Head In The Clouds Festival earlier this month.
Born and raised in Singapore and of Indian descent, Dhruv’s fascination with music dates back to the age of five, hearing Bollywood soundtracks on the T.V. at his grandmother’s house. After years of writing songs privately, he put his studies at Yale on hold to make a go of music in earnest and began producing from his bedroom.
Dhruv burst into the spotlight after his 2019 single “double take” exploded globally, racking up hundreds of millions of streams worldwide. Soon after, he signed with Little Worry and RCA and, in 2022, he released his debut EP Rapunzel. He’s toured with Joji, sold out headline stops across the U.S. and the U.K. and a handful of dates in Asia in 2023, including two rare headline shows in India. NMEpraised Dhruv for creating “vital, anthemic” pop, while PAPERcelebrated the power of his “intimate love songs” and CLASH hailed his “open and completely relatable” songwriting.

Jakarta-born, Los Angeles-based rising star, Warren Hue, continues the rollout of his TUNA mixtape with the release of his new single, “RODEO.” Produced by Warren’s go-to collaborator, Chasu, the mid-2010 inspired track finds Warren at a crossroads, this time on Rodeo Drive. A metaphor for his growing success and its consequences, “RODEO” details how Warren wants to impress his partner with his new lifestyle, but wonders if she still finds him likable or cool. “It’s a battle between if she still finds excitement in my lifestyle in LA or not and if I’m able to maintain it,” Warren shared. “The writing process took me an hour to make the verse and the chorus idea had been around for a year. I recently revisited it because it made sense with the universe of my mixtape.” “RODEO” was first teased at the end of the music video for Warren’s previous single, “SPLIT,” and debuted live during his set at Head In The Clouds Festival in New York. While in New York, Warren was a guest on popular video platform, On The Radar Radio, where he gave another impressive performance of the track. In tandem with the single’s official release today, Warren delivered a picturesque performance video, hosted by 88rising. Watch the “RODEO” performance video here and stream “RODEO” on all platforms, here.
Warren Hue was recently featured on Good Morning America, detailing his journey as a pioneering Asian artist. He made great contributions to 88rising’s latest music endeavor, 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, where he contributed to five tracks on the recent album, hella (˃╭̣ ╮˂̣)✧♡‧o· ̊, alongside Offset, Amaarae, De La Soul, Cuco and MILLI earlier this year. As a fixture in the 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE music collective, Warren has continued to push his music in exciting new directions and usher new fans into 88rising’s world. This May, 88rising memorialized 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE with an immersive art experience at the iconic Mercer Labs in New York City where dynamic light shows and soundscape listening sessions brought a new sensory experience to the project.
Warren Hue has catapulted from hometown hero to international sensation in less than two years since making his artist debut with his album, BOY OF THE YEAR, in the summer of 2022. His most conceptual project to date, BOY OF THE YEAR, which included features from tobi lou and yvngxchris, displayed Warren’s versatility and starpower. Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia and now based in Los Angeles, the Gen Z star has run up an impressive highlight reel, including being named one of Forbes Asia 30 Under 30, all prior to turning 21. He has also been named one of “NME 100: Essential Emerging Artists” for 2022, one of the “18 Emerging Artists To Watch Out For In 2022” by Bandwagon, and one of the “25 Artists To Watch In 2022” by Ones To Watch. His biggest accolades include his recent features on the album, Hella, released earlier this year, with the music collective 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, which brought together the industry’s biggest names, such as Offset, Rick Ross, Ghostface Killah, Busta Rhymes and more. Warren was also featured in four songs on Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings official soundtrack and has partnered with brands like Honda, GUESS, Samsung and Microsoft. Warren made his Coachella debut during the Head in the Clouds Forever 2022 set. Last year, he performed at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, opened for Rich Brian’s sold out arena tour (10k fans per stop) in China, and was on the line-up for both Head in the Clouds Festivals in New York and Los Angeles. This summer, he will be returning to the festival in New York. A multi-hyphenate artist, Warren draws his inspiration from niche art forms to create his ever-evolving sound. From R&B to house, electronic, alternative hip-hop and industrial genres, Warren is unafraid to explore and veer towards the unconventional, while sharing his journey of self-discovery. His latest offers, “TENNESSEE” and “SPLIT,” detail Warren’s growing confidence as a star in the making.

SB19's Josh Cullen drops emotional R&B track "Sumaya"
After announcing his participation at this year’s Round Festival in South Korea, Josh Cullen continues his winning streak with the release of his new single, “Sumaya” under Sony Music Entertainment.
Delivering a quiet rumination on heartbreak and acceptance, “Sumaya” comfortably repackages R&B, trap, pop, and bedroom hip-hop with minimalism that reveals rewarding folds and layers as it progresses. It’s a vulnerable track that expresses the ugly truths of a relationship aftermath but is written from a place of genuine care for the other person’s freedom and happiness.
Josh shares, “Sumaya is about the heart-wrenching journey of accepting that it's time to let go of someone and the memories you've shared. It’s a song that delves into the pain and sadness of moving on while still cherishing the good times you had together.”
According to SB19’s lead rapper and vocalist, the lyrics tackle the bittersweet feeling of parting ways and looking back at a kind of love that once felt life-affirming and real. With the line, "kapag naihatid ka, di na kita susunduin,” Josh demonstrates, with nuance and skill, that he is capable of making songs that hit home.
“The line really captures that final, painful goodbye,” he adds, crediting his good friend Kael Guerrero for helping him write the track. “We drew inspiration from our own life experiences and memories, which makes this song very personal and emotional for both of us.”
In terms of production, Josh shares that he and his co-producer, Kael, were very careful in coming up with the initial groundwork to capture the emotional depth and bittersweet nature of “Sumaya.” He even added some final tweaks to make sure everything felt right, balancing form and intricacies with the genuine intent of his songwriting style. Then, the talented team at Tribute Collective stepped in to re-arrange it, adding their unique touch.
“Kael and Tribute are real gems in this industry, and their combined efforts helped achieve a sound that is haunting and melancholic, perfectly matching the theme of letting go and the sorrow that comes with it,” Josh Cullen explains.
The track's release is accompanied by a music video featuring Josh Cullen as its lead star. The visuals depict the P-Pop superstar waking up from the relics of the past, allowing himself to journey back to a time when life was brimming with love and rosy optimism, but finally realizes that everything is just an illusion that he has to deal with.
Josh shares, “In the music video for Sumaya, I wake up in a house filled with the most important memories of my life, memories of someone I love deeply. As I touch these objects, they start to disintegrate, and I realize it's because of me. As I continue, I find myself shifting between reality and the void, struggling to escape the overwhelming chaos and emotions happening all at once. I don't ever want to forget these memories, yet I know I have to accept and release what I can’t control.”
The music video was directed by Josh Cullen and Jonathan Tal Placido.
The Yoko Na act adds, “Big shout out to Miko del Rosario as well. He stuck with me during those late-night editing sessions. Despite the tight schedule and having no sleep at all, it wasn’t as stressful as I imagined. We were having fun, and their passion and dedication made the whole experience incredibly rewarding.”
Josh Cullen’s “Sumaya” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide. Watch the music video on Josh Cullen’s YouTube channel.

Munimuni to stage “Alegorya” concert at the UP Theater this July!
The experimental folk quintet will be performing at the UP Theater for the first time, following the release of their sophomore album
Filipino indie-folk collective Munimuni celebrates the release of their second full-length album, Alegorya with a major concert happening on July 20, 2024 (Saturday) at the prestigious UP Theater.
Aptly titled ALEGORYA: A Munimuni Concert, the highly anticipated show promises to deliver an audio-visual treat for the senses. The title of the concert is named after their latest release, which, according to the five-piece act, carries many strikingly different emotions and thoughts that don't normally belong to a single collection of songs.
The critically acclaimed band considers this concert an era-defining milestone, integrating live performances with a chamber setup and a more intricate piece of storytelling. The most exciting part is how Munimuni puts careful thought into the order of the songs, and how they want the entire experience to be a worthwhile journey for their fans.
“Practically, this one is the biggest so far in terms of audience, and the longest in terms of set list,” Munimuni explains in a statement. “Creatively, we aim to create an experience that mirrors the album's inherent complexity."
ALEGORYA: A Munimuni Concert serves as the band’s third major concert, following 2018’s self-titled concert at the Music Museum and 2019’s Kulayan Natin at Cine Adarna, UP Film Center. The live music offering aims to combine the intimacy and adventurousness of Munimuni’s music with a grander scale in terms of ambition and scope, focusing on the album’s overarching theme of “looking at the world and our human selves a bit deeper” and “going beyond what is apparent on the surface.”
Munimuni shares, “We're excited to perform at the UP Theater, not just because of the size and prestige of the venue, but also because it feels close to home. The band started in the UP Diliman campus, after all. Our goal for performing in large shows and smaller shows is the same, though. We really just want our songs to move people and somehow help them go through life with a sense of hope. For this concert, the goal stays the same, but we get to express it in a different way, which we take as an opportunity to grow as artists.”
ALEGORYA: A Munimuni Concert is presented by GNN Entertainment Productions and Munimuni. Tickets go on sale today at 12 noon via bit.ly/alegorya.

dwta yearns for the comfort of someone she calls home on new single “Pauwi Na 'Ko (Dito Ka Na Lang)”
The catchy, stripped-down track showcases the best of both Filipino and Bicolano language, lovingly combined to express her authentic storytelling style
Dwta (stylistically spelled as dwta), or JhasmineVillanueva in real life, has released her new single “PauwiNa 'Ko (Dito Ka Na Lang)” via Sony Music Entertainment.
The upbeat pop track expresses the breakthrough star’s excitement of going back home and experiencing a love filled with comfort and security. Written as a paean to her hometown and as a love letter to the person she considers her greatest confidante, “Pauwi Na 'Ko (Dito Ka Na Lang)” showcases dwta’s earnest songwriting style, which combines Filipino and Bicolano language to convey a narrative that is both inclusive and personal.
“Since I speak both languages fluently, why not just mix them?,” dwta reflects. "When they hear a Bikol verse, it instantly transports those who don't understand Bikol into a different world, creating a magical feeling. It’s like letting them experience Bicol through the song.”
The track stands out with the acclaimed folk-pop artist’s ability to turn sharp-witted and conversational lines into a compelling piece of storytelling—a signature quality that’s present in most, if not the majority, of her songs.
According to dwta, she penned the stripped-down tune the night before going back to Bicol. Inspired by her yearning to return home to be with her loved ones and family, Jhasmine picked up a guitar and started writing the song. In less than two hours, she was able to finish “Pauwi Na 'Ko (Dito Ka Na Lang)” with an effortlessly charming arrangement that blends acoustic elements with pop and bossa nova influences.
“Pauwi Na 'Ko (Dito Ka Na Lang) is a song where not only the lyrics but also the melody tells a story,” the young singer-songwriter reveals. “It transports you back home or into the arms of your loved ones. The song talks about the feeling of wanting to go home or just wanting that person beside you wherever you go forever; the excitement of seeing your loved ones or tasting their home-cooked meals. This feeling was what I felt upon writing the song.”
“Pauwi Na 'Ko (Dito Ka Na Lang)” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

SB19 x Apl.de.Ap - "Ready"
The ecstatic dance-pop track serves as SB19’s follow-up to their recently released bop “Moonlight,” featuring Ian Asher and Terry Zhong

Going extremely hard with bombastic beats and exciting sonic builds, the track finds SB19 and Apl.de.Apconcocting a confident bop with global appeal and strong crossover potential.
Keith Harris, a longtime collaborator of the Black Eyed Peas, produced the song. According to Apl.de.Ap, Harris did an amazing job blending pop music influences with electronic music elements, dance music, and Afrobeats.
The resident BEP rapper also penned “Ready” with Jean-Baptiste, Vince Nantes, and Denzel.
SB19’s very own Pablo and Josue (Radkidz), on the other hand, contributed to the production of the track, adding final touches and subtle sonic elements. With party-starting vocals gliding atop carefully structured production, “Ready” highlights the individual strengths of both SB19 and Apl.de.Ap while nurturing their chemistry with pure, instinctive joy.
“We never got the chance to record together in a single booth, but Apl.de.Ap was such a great guy to work with,” shares SB19’s Justin. “It’s an honor to collaborate with a global superstar of his caliber. We’ve learned so much from his generosity and creative feedback.”
SB19’s Stell was also ecstatic about sharing how game-changing the entire experience was. “It was something new for the group. We appreciate the chance to delve into new genres and production styles that come with unfamiliar territory. But with Apl.de.Ap at the helm of the creative process, we’re just blessed to take on this assignment. It’s not every day that you get to work with an artist you look up to.”

Jakarta-born singer-songwriter and producer NIKI achieved a significant milestone on May 29th with her late-night TV debut in the US as a musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. With this performance, NIKI became the first Indonesian artist to ever perform on the show in its 20+ year history.
Performing “Too Much Of A Good Thing”, the lead single from her upcoming third studio album Buzz, NIKI captivated the audience with her mesmerizing vocals and dynamic stage presence alongside her live band.
This appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! marks a historic moment not only for NIKI herself but also for the global representation of Indonesian artists on the international stage.
WATCH THE STUNNING PERFORMANCE HERE
“Too Much Of A Good Thing”, released on May 3rd, is a flirty track infused with sardonic, all-too-honest lyrics that effortlessly convey the feelings that come with having a new crush. Set to sinewy bass guitar and a steady beat, NIKI starts off by professing,“Well, you look like you’re gonna break my heart /and I look like a tough shot in the dark on a good day.” The song is notably co-produced with NIKI’s friend and producer Ethan Gruska, who previously penned songs with the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver, Kimbra, and more.
NIKI’s upcoming album Buzz , slated for release on August 9th, reverberates with the hard-earned wisdom of a young woman who charges dauntlessly towards her dreams — but can still spare a laugh if she stumbles. Enlisting producers who had worked with her favorite contemporary singer-songwriters such as Tyler Chester, who’d captured tracks with Madison Cunningham and Sara Bareilles; she also recruited Ethan Gruska, who counts Fiona Apple and Phoebe Bridgers as collaborators, what surfaced in the album’s wake was a collection of warm, stirring folk-rock songs, which crackle and flare like a bonfire between close confidantes.

Keiko Necesario - “Kahit Pa Anong Mangyari”
More photos here
Filipino indie singer-songwriter Keiko Necesario findsrenewed strength in love and spirituality amidst unjust social conditions on her new single “Kahit Pa Anong Mangyari,” out on all digital streaming platforms worldwide this Friday, May 31, 2024.
The irresistible pop-rock confessional shows Keiko’sresilience and vulnerability in disarmingly bold ways as she chronicles her story of overcoming a challenging season in her married life—thanks to God and her husband, who never left her side during a tumultuous ordeal.
According to Keiko, she penned the track at a time when she and her partner struggled to make ends meet while reflectingon what truly matters for her and between them.
“Last year, it came to a point when we only had 700 pesos in our bank account, and we had to figure out what to do because there were bills to pay and other things to think about,” shares the multi-talented solo artist. “During that difficult time, we chose to have faith because we knew and believed that seasons come and go. God was, and is our provider, so because of that whole experience, I got to write and finish the song.”
Keiko Necessario wrote and co-produced the song, with her bassist Charles Bautista assisting with the overall production. Capturing a pivotal change in both her sound and sonic perspective, Keiko delivers a sterling earworm that isn’t afraid to share a piece of her with the public, no matter how imperfect and devoid it is of rosy disposition. This time around, she wants to celebrate her newfound courage through a track that sees optimism and joy even in the darkest of situations.
With its pulsating guitar riffs, melodic arrangements, and charismatic songwriting, “Kahit Pa Anong Mangyari” brings music fans to the glory days of late ‘90s and early 2000s OPM alternative rock where female-fronted bands ruled the airwaves. Made more exciting with her newfound chops and contemporary acoustic leanings, Keiko turns nostalgic pieces into fodder for inspiration and finds new ways to make them her own.
The indie folk/pop recording artist reveals, “The process was just so much fun because I honestly love spending time in the studio and getting lost in choosing the right elements for a new song. Working with Charles as a co-producer is a refreshing kind of experience because he’s so excellent, and what I love about working with him is that he’s always present and focused. I already told him this and even mentioned it to my husband: that I appreciate Charles’ work ethic because, as busy as he is with other musicians and other things in his life, when you work with him, it’s as if he’s not doing anything else.”
Keiko will be launching her new song live at the Brewing Point Music Lounge in Fisher Parkway, Quezon City on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 7:00pm onwards. Tickets are available here. The event will include performances by Keiko Necesario, and special guests: Barbie Almalbis, Janine Tenoso, Clara Benin, and Cheenee Gonzalez.
“Kahit Pa Anong Mangyari” is out now on all DSPs.
