SCRUBB confirms debut concert in Manila on February 2024

Manila, Philippines โ€“ Itโ€™s official: SCRUBB is coming to the Philippines early next year.

The Thai-based act just confirmed on their social media that they will be headlining their own solo show in Manila in partnership with local production outfit GNN.

Details about the upcoming concert will be announced on December 11, 2023, at 6 p.m.

SCRUBB is a phenomenal Thai alt-pop duo whose music reached global popularity thanks to their enormous contributions to the official soundtrack of 2gether: The Series. The said TV show is touted the biggest Boyโ€™s Love hit ever released internationally and features young superstars Vachirawit Chivaaree (Bright) and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn (Win) as leads.

 

The original soundtrack to the series includes multiple songs from SCRUBB, along with a few notable ones from the main actors and other guest acts.

A prolific music act composed of Thawatpon Wongboonsiri and Torpong Chantabubpha, SCRUBB has produced six studio albums throughout the course of their career and has done sold-out shows in Bangkok and key cities across Asia.

Sony Music Entertainment Philippines and Shoti spread holiday cheer with this yearโ€™s โ€˜Season of Givingโ€™ campaign

The initiative is part of a campaign to engage the country in a fight to alleviate food insecurity and malnutrition

Manila, Philippines โ€“ Sony Music Entertainment Philippines (SMEP) continues to give back to disadvantaged communities through food aid and relief.

 

This comes as part of Sony Music Groupโ€™s global โ€˜Season of Givingโ€™ campaign, where the company and its artists are paying it forward to the countries in which the international music label operates. Across the world, SMG is supporting global organizations dedicated to providing aid for those facing food insecurity, homelessness and refugee support, as well as music industry relief and educational programs for communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

This year, the international music label has partnered with Reach Out and Feed Philippines for a feeding program that provides assistance and relief to households in highly urbanized areas such as Barangay Damayang Lagi in Quezon City. Sony Music has been partners with them since last year, where they provided food aid, along with pop-rock band, NOBITA, to local communities impacted by the pandemic.

 

As reported by Reach out and Feed Philippines, the community-wide initiative has supported more than 100,000individuals to date.

 

Reach Out and Feed Philippines extended their deepest gratitude to Sony Music for providing valuable support to the feeding outreach. โ€œTheir support is not just a contribution; it's a lifeline to those in need. Together, we're making a tangible difference, one meal at a time,โ€ Dawn Cabigon, Founder and Chairperson of Reach Out and Feed Philippines said.

 

The team, which was headed by Sony Music, distributed healthy meals to indigent families. Shoti, one of the labelโ€™s recording stars, volunteered and serenaded the beneficiaries with hismusic, which includes a performance of the viral smash โ€œLDR,โ€ the new single โ€œwaiting 4 u (delulu),โ€ and a rendition of the holiday classic โ€œJingle Bell Rock.โ€

 

"Iโ€™ve received a lot of blessings this year,โ€ said the teen pop singer-songwriter. โ€œAnd the least thing that I can do is to pay it forward in my own little way. Iโ€™m grateful to my Sony Music family and Brgy. Damayang Lagi for the opportunity to bring joy and inspiration to these families. Iโ€™m honored to have used my platform in enacting impactful changes within the community, and I hope to be of service to more people in the future.โ€

 

 

 

Shoti also encouraged the children and parents to join him on the LDR TikTok dance trend, which drew cheers and laughter among the participants.

 

Heโ€™s one of the artists that supports Sony Music Entertainmentโ€™s countless philanthropic activities every year, with an utmost goal of creating valuable and positive social impact for a better future.

Felip to join AEGIS and Jose Mari Chan for a holiday-themed concert

Manila, Philippines December 4, 2023 (6 p.m.) โ€“ P-Pop soloist FELIP is the latest addition to AEGIS: The Christmas Bonus Concert, happening at The Theatre at Solaire in Paranaque City, Metro Manila, on December 20, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. onwards.

The promising newcomer, also popularly known as Ken to the legion of SB19 fans all over the world, will be joining Diamond-awardee balladeer Jose Mari Chan and the Manila String Machine for the year-ender event featuring pop-rock royalty AEGIS, who will be hitting the concert stage with their career-spanning hits.

Just recently, Felip released a cover of โ€œMoving Closerโ€ as part of Warner Music Philippinesโ€™ 30th Anniversary celebration. He also represented the Philippines at the Music Matters in Singapore a few months ago. The edgy crossover act is also rumored to perform a special number that will surely rock The Theatre at Solaire.

During the press conference held last November 20, 2023, AEGIS was asked about the current generation of artists that they admire, and look forward to doing a collaboration with. Without hesitation, the power ballad band mentioned SB19 as the artist whose journey they relate the most. They even gamely danced to the P-Pop groupโ€™s hit single โ€œGentoโ€ in one of their TikTok posts.

โ€œFelip was a unanimous pick because he is from Cagayan De Oro (CDO), and his music resonates with AEGIS on a personal level,โ€ one of the producers explained. โ€œSome of the members are from CDO as well. We really are in awe with how he integrates Bisaya in his lyrics, and how he exudes confidence in his performance.โ€

โ€œWe all saw the video for "Bubblegum Dog" as an opportunity to combine the charming, DIY, surreal, cardboard craft aesthetic of shows like Yo Gabba Gabba and The Mighty Boosh with these ultra-serious grunge videos we grew up watching on MTV โ€“  all that heavy, brooding angst smashed up against absurd childlike fun,โ€ Vickerman and Scharpling say. 
 
โ€œBen and Andrew are legitimately funny guys, so we were excited they got to really go for it with their acting, paying homage to the eternally moody mid-90's rock stars they looked up to when they were kids,โ€  they continue. โ€œThey were completely game for everything, playing around with different wigs/costumes/personas/facial hair and continually chiming in with new ideas along the way. That was a wonderful feeling, because it let us know they were having a good time. For the climax of the video, they let us shoot gallons of pink slime at their faces, which we appreciated. Ben got quite a bit in his mouth, which was unintentional โ€ฆ but he thought it was funny, so then we were allowed to think it was funny.โ€

Due Feb. 23 from Mom + Pop Music, Loss Of Life is the long-awaited follow-up to 2018โ€™s Little Dark Age. VanWyngarden and Goldwasser produced the 10-track project with Patrick Wimberly (Solange, Lil Yachty, Joji). Longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Spoon) mixed the album as he has done on the groupโ€™s past four full-lengths.
 
Christine and the Queens appear on the song โ€œDancing in Babylonโ€ โ€“ the first-ever feature on an MGMT album, which has additional production supplied by Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never)and James Richardson. Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) also provides additional production on โ€œMother Natureโ€ and Miles A. Robinson served as associate producer and engineer across the album.
 
The โ€œBubblegum Dogโ€ video follows the stunning, 2n-produced animated video for โ€œMother Nature,โ€ which was directed by longtime collaborator Jordan Fish. The themes of Loss Of Life will be further explored through future videos made by a remarkable roster of writers, producers and directors.

About ATEEZ:

 

ATEEZ, short for โ€˜A TEEnager Z,โ€™ is an eight-member South Korean group that has taken the world by storm immediately after their debut in October 2018. Known for standout performances that combine runway aesthetics with darker tones lined by hip-hop and electronic trap mixes, the octet have turned storytelling into a full musical experience. The eight members of ATEEZ are HONGJOONG, SEONGHWA, YUNHO, YEOSANG, SAN, MINGI, WOOYOUNG, and JONGHO. Though the initial meaning of their group name stood for โ€˜everything teenagers need from A to Zโ€™, they have since evolved and grown as artists alongside their fans (named ATINY) to become โ€˜everything you need from A to Zโ€™.

 

Establishing themselves as top artists early on in their career with a sold-out global tour only four months after their debut, they continue to break their own records. In a unique narrative that starts from the very first release in the TREASURE album series and continues through the FEVER and THE WORLDmasterpieces, the group combines bestseller narratives with personalized music that speaks to their generation. ATEEZ attained the label of being a โ€˜million sellerโ€™ group with their 8th EP release of THE WORLD EP.1 : MOVEMENT, among other achievements of being nominated and winning titles throughout the years as the Next Generation Act and Top Act in award ceremonies. Their most recent release THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW broke their highest personal record on the Billboard 200 Chart, debuting at 2nd and charting for five weeks.

It's December, which means rising star grentperez is back with his annual Christmas drop! The Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter has released a delicate new song "Christmas Starts Tonight", out now everywhere via AWAL and Fast Friends. grentperez explains, "Christmas, the time for presents, laughter, gatherings and greetings, and is a time that I love very dearly. 'Christmas Starts Tonight' is about the excitement that comes with the season, the feeling of wonder and cheer with every passing day that leads to Christmas night. In a way, you can make Christmas Day every day if you really want to."

"Christmas Starts Tonight" arrives on the heels of the release of his highly anticipated EP โ€˜When We Were Youngerโ€™, a seven-song collection centered around the concept of nostalgia. Inspired by his parents' record collection that soundtracked his childhood (Dionne Warwick, The Carpenters, The Bee Gees + more), the intuitive and unexpected sonic detours throughout โ€˜When We Were Youngerโ€™ are what make grentperezโ€™s breezy, lithe pop songs feel full of life.

Multi-media artist, singer-songwriter and producer grentperezโ€™s handcrafted DIY pop instantly soothes on a series of releases that have helped endear him to rapidly growing audiences at home in Australia as well as further afield in Southeast Asia, North America and Europe.

His debut single 
"Cherry Wine", released in September 2021 shot up the Spotify viral charts across the globe, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and swept up the #1 spot in Singapore soon after its release. In less than two years, grentperezโ€™s catalogue has seen over 200 million streams to date, and over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with hundreds of new fans discovering him daily. 

In October 2023, grentperez was the supporting artist for Rex Orange County's Manila concert and played his first-ever shows in Singapore and Jakarta. Next year, he will be heading back to the Philippines to play at Wanderland Festival 2024 alongside regional and international artists including Jack Johnson, Parcels, and Novo Amor.

Born in Australia, grentperez grew up as the youngest of three kids in a Filipino family. Raised on a diet of The Eagles, The Beatles, and Queen thanks to his dad before moving on to the likes of Musiq Soulchild. As soon as he received his first nylon string acoustic, he taught himself Jeremy Passionโ€™s โ€œLemonadeโ€, learning chords, shapes, and plucking patterns. At the end of 2013, he launched his 
YouTube channel which currently sits at over half a MILLION subscribers.
