The highly anticipated show marks GNN Pop’s debut offering for 2023

Manila, Philippines, June 30 2023 (6 pm) – Filipino music royalty KYLA and JAY R are gearing up for their highly anticipated return to the big stage!

The Queen and King of Filipino R&B will be teaming up for their reunion concert entitled Back In Time: Kyla and Jay R The Reunion Concert, happening on September 2, 2023 (Saturday), at the New Frontier Theatre in Cubao, Quezon City.

Celebrating 20 years of generation-spanning partnership that paved the way for local R&B/soul/hip-hop to flourish in the mainstream music scene in the Philippines, Kyla and Jay R are ready to take listeners on a musical journey that shaped pop culture at large from the early 2000s to the present.

LOIR’s debut EP, Chapters exhibits emotional maturity beyond years

The 7-track release also features the Gloc 9-assisted track “TAKAS”

After dropping ethereal tunes that capture the struggles of youth in the most genuinely honest way, Filipino recording artist LOIR is now ready to open up old wounds and deliver an unsparing narration of her teenage life in her debut EP, Chapters, out today via Sony Music Entertainment.

The 7-track EP, which exhibits a knack for confessional songwriting and tender, spacey production, reflects emotional maturity beyond her years. In moments when the soulful newcomer needed some rescuing, she wasn’t afraid to examine her decisions in life with both sides of the coin: never consumed by ego, but instead, looking for answers with a hopeful, open mind.

“Chapters represent the ups and downs of my life,” the young singer-songwriter explains. “I’ve learned along the way that sometimes, it’s okay to pause and embrace defeat. But while there’s beauty in acceptance, I’ve always made it a point to celebrate my imperfections and use it as a motivating factor to keep going. Sharing my story is my own way of healing.”

The release of her new EP Chapters is accompanied by the focus track “TAKAS,” featuring Filipino hip-hop icon Gloc-9. “From the beat to the melody, pure devastation is felt at every part, desperately clinging to that hope that might change the heart,” she describes the song. Buoyed by dramatic strings and intricately powerful arrangements, the ethereal track is LOIR’s way of finding escape in a world troubled by uncertainty and not knowing what lies ahead.

Aside from “TAKAS,” the EP shines just as bright with songs that communicate storytelling in particularly nuanced ways.

Her debut record includes “PANAGINIP,” featuring rapper Melrhyme, and “UMAGA,” which are both crossover jams with hit potential. The stripped-down ballad “MAMA” is LOIR at her most vulnerable, asking big questions about life’s purpose and her conflicting sense of direction. And then there’s “PAHIYOM,” which shows just how charismatic LOIR can be as both an interpreter and a storyteller.

Despite its introspective themes, the production always stands out with refreshing ideas, thanks to contributions by urban/R&B collaborators such as Goodson, Havo and Shaq.

The new single follows Two Friends’ recent collaboration with multi-platinum country singer Russell Dickerson in “More Than Yesterday.” Slowly beginning with Dickerson’s rich vocals over acoustic plucking, the song steadily progresses, building instrumental and electronic beats, and culminating in a powerful, danceable chorus featuring drums, synths, and a catchy trumpet hook, the track has quickly become a warm-weather anthem. In February, the duo released “No Saving Us (ft. SAYGRACE)” their first original single of the year giving fans a taste of their monumental year ahead. They have earned a coveted Vegas residency at the Wynn’s XS & Encore this summer and the second annual edition of their very own festival, Big Bootie Land  recently took place in Chicago on June 2nd, where they unveiled their Big Bootie Mix Vol.23. American singer-songwriter Sarah Reeves drops enchanting alt-pop track “Get Back Your Fight”

[21 June 2023] Asia’s leading pan-Asian Hip Hop Platform LiFTED released its second edition of the LiFTED 50 – a ranking of Asia’s top 50 rappers yesterday.
 
In partnership with Jägermeister, the LiFTED 50 covers the best new and established artists from across the region. 
 
This year’s list includes many familiar faces moving up or down the list, plus 18 NEW ENTRIES and over 10 female MCs or crews, surpassing last year’s tally and a testament to the rising force of female rappers in Asia.

On a journey lasting nearly a year and two months, ATEEZ met with a total of 430,000 fans from Seoul, Japan, U.S., and Europe. Driven by the still-burning heat of the tour in 2023, ATEEZ successfully held another set of encore concerts in Seoul and Japan. ATEEZ’s 9th mini album ‘THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW’ is an exciting and energetic new episode following [THE WORLD EP.1 : MOVEMENT], which marked the beginnings of a secret movement to cause a fissure in this controlled society.

‘THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW’ contains six tracks - featuring “BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)” as the title song. In “BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS),” ATEEZ fly on the music with an unblockable sense of ‘Heung’ (uniquely Korean ‘exhilaration’) that only they can portray. It’s a track that will fully immerse the listener, making their heart race.

True to ATEEZ style, the released preview video labeled as the album trailer garnered over 3 million views on YouTube (at the time of writing) with comments noting the interesting and puzzling themes portrayed in this trailer.

Amidst their touring success, ATEEZ’s last EP, ‘SPIN OFF : FROM THE WITNESS’ released in December 2022, has been well-loved by fans around the world. The EP set a new record for the group charting on the ‘Billboard 200’ main chart for three weeks and further raising expectations for this new release.
