Internationally acclaimed British production-and-DJ duo Snakehips have teamed up with award-winning, Pitchfork-approved artist Tkay Maidza for their newest offering: “Show Me the Money”. The latest single to be taken from Snakehips’ upcoming debut album, it finds Snakehips’ deep, propulsive production underscoring elastic, acrobatic flows from Maidza. The two acts display a natural synergy that unifies their talent into a bubbling hit, which received its first spin by the revered radio DJ Clara Amfo on her BBC Radio 1 show on Thursday evening.

The P-Pop quintet celebrates International Women’s Month with a bop that aims to inspire women to never give up on their dreams

P-Pop girl group KAIA celebrates International Women’s Month with the release of “5678,” a dance-pop track about preparing to face everything your way, no matter what anyone else says.

Penned by the members of KAIA with the help of OhwonLee, PaperPlanet, and LEO, “5678” stands out as a fired-up anthem aimed towards inspiring women everywhere to never give up on their dreams.

“This is a living testament that we’re always trying to make it on our own terms, one step at a time, without looking back,” shares KAIA in a statement. “We are thankful for the opportunities that are presented to us, and we promise to deliver a message of positivity and hope in our songs, as a way to give back to our supporters.”

Uplifting and brimming with magnetic confidence, the song sends the pop quintet’s message of self-love and empowerment with lines (“Hingang malalim, lahat tatahakin / Hindi na ako maliligaw” trans: dbreath, ready to conquer the roadmap / This time, I won’t get lost) that will surely resonate with generations of listeners from all around the world.

“5678” is produced by Ohwon Lee, whose career-spanning work includes songs from some of the biggest names in K-Pop. His sonic approach fits KAIA’s energetic defiance, with a synth intro immediately signaling that something explosive is about to arrive, and frantic beats building up throughout the song to “effectively convey the girls’ unstoppable strengths towards the trials they face.”

The song will also be part of KAIA’s debut EP, which will be released sometime this year. It will be accompanied by a music video helmed by director Raymond Fabian, assisted by Jonathan Tal Placido, under the production house of Studio 79th. The visuals will drop on March 25, Saturday at 6pm.

KAIA adds, “Working with the production house is a smooth process because it’s a collaborative effort between the production team and the members of KAIA, and they are very open to the ideas of KAIA.”

Paper Cranes: An Invitation to Dream Again

I read Paper Cranes: Haiku, Senryu & Tanka by Alvin B. Cruz on the premise that it is a wake-up call for one’s dormant emotions. I was not disappointed. More than being a reminder to savor one’s emotions, it was also a call to action. The beautiful Japanese short verses were like shots after a very long day. They numbed my pain at first, but they made me remember once I was feeling their weight. The journey through the verses ended with forgetting, which brings me to a deep slumber. By the time I finished reading the book, I felt compelled to revisit the emotions which I was too scared to explore. I knew that doing so would burn me, but life is about burning on a planet filled with gas. It is how I burn that matters, and it was achieved by the over one hundred poems in the book.

The author’s creative play on words was the heart of the book’s magical appeal. The old typewriter gave the reader a sense of whimsy in the middle of heavy social themes discussed in the poems. The author’s personal realities were also explored in the verses. I felt the zero-waste life presented in a poem, as well as the eternal puzzle which the author continues to search for. By writing these poems, the author presents his life, his longing, and his laments. By reading his poems, his words take on a different meaning as I make them my own and process them through my own experiences. Having experienced pain, loss, longing, and grief, I empathize with the author. By appreciating his book, I celebrate his memories through his beautiful poetry. By finishing his book, I learned to dream again. The author presented poems on the loneliest human conditions, which inspire us all to dream again. After all, it is only through dreaming that one can improve one’s life and contribute to the upliftment of the human condition.

Australian singer-songwriter Ruel drops music video for new track “I DON’T WANNA BE LIKE YOU”

Australian singer-songwriter Ruel has released the music video for “I DON’T WANNA BE LIKE YOU,” his new single released under RCA Records/Sony Music Entertainment.

Directed by James Chappell, the visuals find the pop prodigy escaping an army of folks dressed in blue jumpsuits with his getaway vehicle.

“I DON’T WANNA BE LIKE YOU” is an upbeat alt-pop tune with a breezy chorus that’s worth singing along to, and an indelible groove fit for the summer. The song is part of his debut studio album, 4th WALL, which debuted at No. 3 in Australia and No. 10 in New Zealand upon its release.

Through a journey that spanned over the last three years, Ruel’s long-awaited debut album explores his most personal and stellar musical offerings to date. Celebrating the enduring legacy of Sugarfree’s iconic debut album, Sa Wakas The Repeat: 20th Anniversary Celebration will feature a longer, full-length set by EbeDancel and drummer Mitch Singson, as well as guest performances and surprises.

This year’s edition of the Manila-based food and music festival gets bigger with a more exciting lineup of performers, activities, and programs

Manila, Philippines, March 13 2023 (Monday) – After a hugely successful debut in 2019, Zark’s Fest returns this summer with their biggest offering in live music and comfort grub.

Presented and produced by Zark’s Burgers, a popularburger joint in the Philippines, and organized by GNN Entertainment Productions, the hybrid festival promises to treat its patrons with an exciting music lineup, more inclusive programming, a dedicated space for lifestyle, crafts, and arts merchants, and most especially, a heartyserving of American comfort food, the Zark’s way.

Headlining the festival are the award-winning and best-selling Filipino band Ben&Ben and 2021/2022’s most-streamed solo artist Zack Tabudlo. He maintained this momentum with projects such as Overnight EP [2016], 2:00am in LA [2017], and Silver Lining [2018]. Along the way, he shared the stage with the late Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and Fifth Harmony in addition to performing on NBC’s Today Show and LIVE with Kelly and Ryan.  

2021’s Silver Lining II marked yet another high watermark. People exclusively premiered the album, while it received praise from EUPHORIA., Rif , and The Honey Pop who described it as an “extraordinary experience.” In support of Silver Lining II, he launched the “hi, i missed you” Tour, packing houses across North America. He continues to inspire on a series of 2022 singles and his forthcoming fifth full-length album [EMPIRE].

UK Top 10 hitmaker Karen Harding has released her brand new single ‘Back To You’ via Ultra Records / Sony Music. It is the latest song to be taken from her eagerly awaited debut album out this summer.

Karen’s vocals soar among the propulsive house beats and high rising synths of ‘Back To You’, where she sings about embracing blossoming love while working through the butterflies and second guesses that come with it.
‘Back To You’ has been written with Rob Harvey (Kasabian, The Streets, Rudimental) and co-produced with Franklin (Nile Rodgers, Digital Farm Animals) and Ollie Green (David Guetta, John Newman, Ella Henderson).

Regarding the single Karen says, “‘Back To You’ follows the moments of doubt you feel when you get into a new relationship, but you know that it's gonna be fine and will all work out. I loved working on this record with Rob Harvey and Ollie Green, we had so much fun in the studio that day and we were all feeling the positivity that runs through the song! I hope it can take people to that positive place when they might be going through hardships with their partner. I love the big sing along chorus and can't wait to perform it live.”

‘Back To You’ is the latest song to be taken from Karen’s highly anticipated debut album. The forthcoming record is already chocked full of hits, including further Franklin produced tracks such as ‘Undo My Heart’, with over 26 million streams and Radio 1 playlist support, and ‘Other Side Of Love’, a playlist hit at Kiss Dance and Capital Dance, with regular spins Kiss FM, Capital FM, Radio 1, and well over a million streams.

The record will also feature her UK Top 10 hit ‘Say Something’ and see Karen working and collaborating with Armand van Helden, Shift K3Y, Digital Farm Animals, MNEK and more.

P-Pop girl group YARA inks record deal with Sony Music Entertainment, releases debut single “ADDA”

Filipino four-member act YARA joins the esteemed roster of Sony Music Entertainment, an established record label known for producing some of the biggest names in P-Pop.

The promising rookie embarks on a journey with newfound independence—thanks to the guidance of their record label, and their insistence to leave a mark in the burgeoning Philippine music scene.

“Sony Music PH and YARA are a match made in heaven,” the all-women group shares. “We were surprised that our vision and passion for music are the same. After everything that we’ve gone through, we are very happy that we finally found someone with whom we are confident to work with especially with our music.”

YARA officially marks their debut as a recording artist with the release of their new single “ADDA,” which means ‘Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat.’ Holding merit with a refreshing balance of charisma and edginess, YARA drops a confident piece of pop music that leaves nothing out of the bag.

“We know what we want / we know what we're capable of,” they open their verse with an assured declaration. Few newcomers can get away with lines that beam with delirious energy and excitement, and YARA does it seamlessly as they navigate an entirely new realm that remains completely uncharted to them.

The Pinoy girl group explains, “The song is about YARA. The story of YARA. The song reflects why YARA works hard to strive beyond their limitations and reach for their dreams. Combining dance-pop vigor with hip-hop elements and K-Pop feistiness, YARA’s “ADDA” is written and composed by YARA’s very own Kim Natividad, and produced by one of SB19 and Pablo's frequent collaborators, Joshua Naseand Michael “Cursebox” Negapatan (Alex Bruce).

According to YARA, the empowering mood of the material aims to set the tone of what’s to come for their future releases. “The dynamics of the song radiate confidence and empower our listeners,” the Filipino quartet reveals. “Unison is also present in the song to highlight that behind showcasing our individual talents, the product of our teamwork sets us apart and makes us who we are. The progression of instrumental placements in the song relates to how our passion (to perform) intensifies throughout our journey amidst the unexpected challenges we’veencountered along the way.”
