ADB Invests $25 Million in Quadria Capital Fund III for Health Care Investments in Developing Asia

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (17 January 2023) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $25 million equity investment with Quadria Capital Fund III LP (Quadria III) to enhance the quality, accessibility, and affordability of health care in Southeast Asia and South Asia by supporting the growth of health care companies in these regions.

Managed by Quadria Capital, Quadria III has a target size of $800 million, which will be used to provide fresh capital to established companies operating in health care services, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, medical devices and consumables, health technology, as well as consumer health care distribution and retail segments. Average investments are expected to range from $70 million to $200 million, with larger investments expected to mobilize co-investment capital. The fund may also selectively invest in early-stage health care companies.

“As one of the few healthcare funds dedicated to Southeast Asia ADB is excited to partner with Quadria Capital in this important sector,” said ADB Private Sector Investment Funds and Special Initiatives Division Director Janette Hall. “Through its investment, ADB will help Quadria III implement a gender impact tool to identify health care investments that address gender inequalities, promote women as a source of innovation, and support women’s empowerment.”

Founded in 2012, Quadria Capital is a private equity firm based in Asia focusing on health care, with over $ 1.6 billion in assets under management. This is ADB’s first investment in a health care fund managed by Quadria Capital.

ADB is committed to achieving a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific, while sustaining its efforts to eradicate extreme poverty. Established in 1966, it is owned by 68 members — 49 from the region.

Breakout singer and songwriter Mimi Webb has released her latest pop anthem, “Red Flags.” The high-energy track gives fans another taste of what to expect from her forthcoming debut album, Amelia, out March 3, 2023, via EPIC Records.  

Mimi’s powerful vocals and lyrics are brought to life in the music video, directed by Drew Kirsch, as she takes viewers on a journey of hindsight, revenge, and reclaiming power that every scorned lover dreams about.  The video premiered today on MTV Live, MTVU, and MTV Biggest Pop. Jason Marvin travels back in time with the release of his 2023 single “Oras”

His new single is accompanied by a music video starring social media influencer Albert Nicolas and up-and-coming TV/film actress Roxie Smith 

Filipino singer-songwriter Jason Marvin starts 2023 on a bright note with the release of his new single "Oras.”

Brimming with lush, gentle arrangements and laid-back vocals, the piano-driven ballad finds the Cornerstone Entertainment artist traveling back in time in an attempt to amend a romantic relationship. It also touches on the idea of admitting one’s mistakes and using them as motivation to become a better person.

To quote Jason Marvin, "Mistakes will be made and regrets will always be a part of life, but we must learn to live with it, grow stronger, and continue singing the songs that we’re meant to sing."

According to the singer-songwriter behind Gain, "Oras" is the first song that he wrote where the music video concept came first. "I imagined this scene where a guy who can time travel keeps on failing in his relationship. No matter what he does, even if he tries a hundred times, if it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be."

Directed by King Bingcang and written by Jason himself, the music video conveys the essence of the lyrics in a straightforward manner. It stars social media influencer Albert Nicolas as a time traveler trying to win back the love of his life, and up-and-coming actress Roxie Smith, who is repeatedly pursued in the story.

"I still can’t believe we were able to shoot everything in one day," says the Manila-based producer and singer-songwriter. "Everyone was just so light and fun to work with. Albert’s humor makes everyone forget that they're tired, while Miss Roxie’s positive mood from start to finish was very contagious."

"Oras" is written and produced by Jason himself and co-arranged by Nick Lazaro, a prolific producer who has worked with a diverse crop of musicians ranging from alternative rock outfit Oh, Flamingo! to hyper-pop soloist Pikoy.

"Arranged by me and Nick Lazaro, I wanted to achieve this nostalgic old sounding piano (like the ones in your lola’s old house)," the folk-pop singer-songwriter/producer adds. "Nick came in and put on the drums, bass guitar, and choir voices that made it all sound magical."

Miley Cyrus releases new single “Flowers”

Multi-platinum selling recording artist, songwriter, and trailblazer Miley Cyrus has released “Flowers” the first single from her forthcoming eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation, available globally on March 10th. The track finds Miley opining on self-love and courage, noting that “Started to cry / But then I remembered / I can buy myself flowers / Write my name in the sand” before ultimately and powerfully declaring “I can love me better than you can.”

The themes of the song and buzz surrounding the music led fans to declare that 2023 is the year of Miley.

Unsurprisingly, Miley has delivered fans a fashion-forward video for “Flowers.” The video was created by Miley and directed by Jacob Bixenman, with Stephen Galloway serving as creative movement director.

There have been many visuals for Endless Summer Vacation; Miley first announced the album with a powerful trailer. The album cover, photographed by Brianna Capozzi and fully executed by Miley without visual effects, was also revealed. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced with Kid Harpoon, Greg Kurstin, Mike WiLLMade-It and Tyler Johnson, Miley describes the album as her love letter to LA.

VEDO TEAMS UP WITH CHRIS BROWN FOR LONG-AWAITED COLLABORATION ON NEW SINGLE “DO YOU MIND”OFF OF HIS UPCOMING STUDIO ALBUM MOOD SWINGS

VEDO has teamed up with Megastar Chris Brown to kick off the year with one of R&B’s biggest releases. Just recently, RCA announced the original soundtrack would include three rare versions of “Don’t Cry For Me” – a never-before-released a cappella, a full-length film version by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and a reimagined recording by record producer Sam Feldt. Houston’s iconic performance of the song was made famous after a striking rendition at the 1994 Aids Project Los Angeles (APLA) benefit concert – a moment that would stun the audience and go down in history as one of the most memorable performances of Whitney Houston’s illustrious career.

“I am extremely honored and proud to have been asked to reimagine a track made by all-time legend Whitney Houston,” says Sam Feldt. “Being a key part of this unique movie’s soundtrack by turning this classic into a 2023 ready dance-pop banger is an absolute pleasure, and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”

‘Radio’ serves as the latest taster of the record and was co-created and sung by, one of Sigala’s all-time heroes.

“MNEK, what a legend!” he beams. “I've followed his career since day one, when I was at uni. He's somebody that I've always dreamed of working with.”

And in the writing, he didn’t disappoint, even for a man well-used to using the studio as a creative playground.

“I spent about two hours making a beat, getting some nice chords, whilst he was just chilling. And then he was like, 'OK, just play it through.' He's on his phone, typing down lyrics, then he jumps on the microphone. And literally 20 minutes later, he had written pretty much the whole song – and the vocal is the one that he sang in two takes!” Sigala marvels. “Just incredible. I was honestly blown away. It was like being in the presence of true genius.”

There is, accordingly, a freshness to the French disco feel of the track. “That's something that I really wanted to keep true to; not overproduce it. It's such a simple production, but it's unique as well, with that offbeat bass going all the way through. It throws back to early 2000s and late 90s stuff, and even disco.”

Culturally, MNEK is considered a musical icon amongst the LGBTQIA+ community and has previously performed at New York World Pride 2019, UK Black Pride and featured on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK as both a coach and guest judge. After setting up a writing camp dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ singer/songwriters in 2019, MNEK has continued efforts to strive for more inclusivity within the industry as a contributor to the Guardian UK diversity panel and hosting his own YouTube panel ‘MNEKs Inter-Section’ in conversation with 5 Black Queer artists/content creators.

South Korean boyband ATEEZ continues to dominate several global music charts with the release of their new EP, ‘SPIN OFF : FROM THE WITNESS’. She has six #1 albums including her 2013 GRAMMY-nominated album Bangerz, which is also certified 3x platinum in the U.S. In addition, she has had an impressive five sold-out world tours throughout her career. In November 2020, Miley dropped her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts. The critically acclaimed album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and is her sixth #1 album, giving Miley the most top 10 album debuts on the chart for female artists this century. Tracks on Plastic Hearts have been streamed over 3 billion times. In 2021 Miley joined The Kid Laroi on a remix of his song “Without You”. The remix debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Rock Chart. Miley was also part of Metallica’s The Metallica Blacklist Album, offering a blistering cover of “Nothing Else Matters”. Recent collaboration and brand partners include NBC/Peacock, Gucci and T-Mobile amongst others. Miley spent most of 2021 touring with multiple headlining slots at festivals including a massive run across LATAM which saw her perform to a cumulative crowd of over 1 million. A tireless advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Miley devotes much of her time to her non-profit The Happy Hippie Foundation, which supports youth homelessness, the LGBTQ community, and other vulnerable populations.
